Mazdaspeed 3

The MS6 will have a 2.3 Turbo...Seems like all MS Mazdas will keep the Turbo theme...or maybe the MS3 will get a NA high output 2.0? As for power (assuming an MS3 turbo)...my hunch is between 200-220hp...match it up with other powerful sport compacts...
I head that the Mazda Speed 3 was going to be a rotary, has anyone else heard that or Am I hearing voices agine

no the next rotary is another RX-7 or a RX-9 (suposed twin scrolled renesis) if they change their minds later on. on a side note since atkens drops rotaries into anything to include boats trunks and a lawn mower they could prpabaly do something with a 3.
and as for the awd thing expect this...(nuts)

Here's my take. They're going to make the Mazdaspeed3 for competition in FIA rally, where maximum engine displacement is 2.0L. Being 1995cc, the smaller engine is perfect. I think(re: hope) they make a rally car, with a street-going version like the WRX and Evo.

i hope so, but ford already has a rally team. i don't see them running two (see: VW runs a skoda team and so no audi).

Ford does not completely dominate every Mazda decision, they are only a 33% share holder. Sure, ford has influence and both brands share parts with each other, but if Mazda wanted to get into WRC, Ford could not tell them "No". It would not be Ford paying the bills for the team drivers, but rather Mazda.

don't think they'll care about that. With that logic, then why aren't they worried that the MS6 is going to be faster than the RX8? With the size and appearance difference of the 3 and 6, not too many people will be cross-shopping.....
A sports rx8 sans driver and with 1/2 a tank of gas weighs 2860 lbs. Mazda actually spec'd the 8's curb weight "with" driver. Aka the 8 is still going to weigh almost 500 lbs less then an ms6...thats a pretty massive difference, especially considering the importance of weight in racing.

Will the ms6 take the 8 in a straight line? Of course it will, the standard 6s mtx can take an 8 in a straight line. (Best 1/4 8 time is only 0.1-0.2 seconds faster then a 6s mtx). But then of course the 8 isn't the ms6's competition, the ms8 is.

Check this weeks issue of Speed magazine. The mazdaspeed 8 is on the cover, rotary supercharged, 280 bhp. That will soundly beat the ms6 into the ground.

mazda has proved that they can make a 1000hp N/A 2.3 so I guess your logics sound resonable :)

where the H-E-double hockey sticks have you seen a mazda-developed 1000hp N/A motor?

^^the mazda 3 drag car. but it was a little less than 1000hp. but I don't remember if it was N/A.

lucky you i'm currently working on year 2 of no cabe whatsoever...
