Mazdaspeed 3 CAI ?

okay im getting pretty frustrated now...

tried to order the ms cai from SU and i got an email back saying they couldn't get anymore (wish they had stated that somewhere on their website before i put all my info in the appropriate fields). then i tried the dealer, at which point today they told me that they couldn't get any either for whatever reason, which mazda didn't tell them

im really trying to hold out so i can only get "mazda genuine parts", so im not going the sri route, or even the AEM route.

has anyone else been having these problems (for those who don't already have one and are trying to get one). i asked the dealer if anyone else had been calling in asking the same stuff i was and they said no, which i find hard to believe cuz it's a pretty big mazdaspeed dealer

i hope they get it all figured out i plan on buying one in a month or so for my speed

After reading this thread YET AGAIN, I was going to give in and get the MSCAI. But I just called both Camelback Mazda ($299.25) and CardinaleWay Mazda ($312) in the Phoenix, AZ area and they told me that Mazda took the MSCAI off the market AGAIN a couple months ago for another redesign. The parts reps did not know details...

Can anyone else confirm this???

yea...mazda is at it again for whatever reason that they won't say publicly. i really hope this problem gets resolved cuz i want one. and maybe eventually i'll be able to afford all the mazdaspeed stuff like the exhaust, suspension, and some ms6 wheels. gotta keep it all in the family!

Wow that's pretty ridiculous!

Olive Branch Missouri is where the CAI's were available. I'd suggest having your dealer check parts inventory out of that specific depot.

No redesign. They are on hold pending CARB approval. At least a couple weeks, maybe longer.

Yeah, I was also one of the few to get a MSCAI this year.

From what I've been told, Mazda needs to recertify the CAI due to the addition of the air straightener. My guess is they used the 2008 EO and prematurely released a few before realizing another certification would be required. My understanding is that no parts have been changed, but the EO may get updated.

Dealers will get the following code when querying the MSCAI:
GRMS-8M-L29 QC PDNG APPRVL TBD PNOT - Pending CARB Approval

^^^im guessing you got yours just before the recall this year?

and if you're still on the fence about it you could consider selling it to me :)

anyone with a MS CAI wanna trade for my Injen CAI? Looking to go all Mazdaspeed brand on my car when possible.

If so, PM me.

ok someone tell me if this is BS... I called my dealer and the parts guy said they dont have any MS CAIs because of a "recall" on them for a defect or something liek that... and the guy is waiting to hear from mazda on when they are going to ship out the updated batch....

I was like HUH?

not a recall like you're thinking, the new one is missing CARB approval. i think what happened was they started shipping the 2nd gen intakes before realizing this, so they had to stop the sales to consumers.

there should be nothing wrong with the new mscai, and really there was nothing wrong with the first one, it was just missing a $9 part that you could get from anywhere.

it's a bunch of legal mumbo-jumbo

it's an air straightener. basically the problem was that the air coming in was too turbulent for the MAF to measure correctly, so AFRs were a little out of whack and started producing too many CELs. by introducing a straightener the MAF can properly measure the amount of air coming in.

the thing about the mazdaspeed cai is that it never came with one, but you could still get it on your own. but mazda is not going to endorse something that doesnt work unless you get some other seperate part from some other manufacturer. so they decided to include the straightener with their 2nd gen cai, which is probably the same exact intake as the other one, just with a straightener included

Dont CPe and AEM CAIs come with air straighteners?

should I just go get an AEM?...

damnit I dont know. maybe I should just wait for MS to get theirs out.

The only reason why i want one is for the badge. Stupid maybe, but i just want to keep it in the family. Sometime i might have the mullah and grab some other mazdaspeed stuff like suspension or exhaust
