Mazda5, Warranty Related Fixes

Wow, I've put alot of miles on my 5 and had none of these issues!! I've had a few TSB's done but the dealer elected to do them all during scheduled maintenance. The first "repair" i did was at 106000, left rear shock. The 5 has so far been the MOST reliable vehicle I've had

My last car...by now I'd replaced front struts, wheel bearing, brakes, head gasket. Yep it was a Chrysler!

I'll contribute as well here.

i took her into the dealership for an oil change and tire rotation while i waited for the protege to be tinted. i also test drove a new speed3. i liked it. (black, so it hides the smile )

anyways, i get a call while im driving the speed saying there is something with the 5's transmission. so i had to cut my fun short and return to the dealership. they tell me that the transmission is leaking fluid. (forgot exactly where) luckily, it wasnt a lot, and there was still plenty of fluid left so there was no damage. i told them that i didnt see any puddles, but they said that it was all over the outside of the transmission and that it was pooling on the shielding that protects the underside of the engine.

so, now i have this crappy focus for 3 days. they said they have to take the transmission off, and reseal everything. basically it is just some bad seals from the factory. i guess they have seen a few 5's with this problem.

thank god for still being under warranty! this is the second warranty fix now in the 1.6 years. first one for for a squeaky drivers door window. they had to replace the motor on that one. luckily, mazda is giving us the rental for free as well. woot!

wowa!! I feel for you guys.

we haven't had any issues with our 09' as of yet but we only have 11,000 miles on it.

My 08 Warranty Fixes

Just got my 5 back from the dealer. ~31k on it, so wanted to get the fixes done before 36k rolls around.
- our right rear suspension started squeaking out of the blue recently - they replaced rubber seat, but also had to mess wtih the bushings
- our gas cap got stuck randomly - replaced
- TSB fix for engine coolant water outlet gasket
- Right inner front axle shaft had oil on the outside (damaged seal?) - replaced
- lastly, our rear fan for the 2nd row seat stopped working - replaced actuator

Out of pocket cost: $0:)

wow, that is great that you had all those issues fixed.

Were these issues that you knew of or did Mazda find and repair?
"- TSB fix for engine coolant water outlet gasket
- Right inner front axle shaft had oil on the outside (damaged seal?) - replaced"

- I found the water outlet TSB on this site.
- Doing my own oil changes enabled me to look around under there and notice a leak on the axle shaft that shouldn't be there.

Yeah!!
this is the reason I like to do my own oil changes although i haven't started doing them on the 5 yet.

It smelled like antifreeze under the hood at times. My fluid level would go down over time as well - seemed a bit faster than normal. The dealer apparently validated my concern, as they did the job. You know how finicky they can be.

My warranty will be up in a few weeks, it will be the 36th month (I'm at about 29,000 miles). No major problems, the warranty will expire unused for me.
