Mazda5: Prices paid and related questions

2010 Sport M/T new, 54 miles with fog lights and homelink mirror $19,591 including TTL. It was $17400 prior to the lights, mirror, and taxes. Minnesota.

Was just quoted $19,192 USC out the door for a 2010 Sport automatic in metro Detroit. This is for employee (S-plan) and included MI tax (6%) and a $1000 rebate. The only question now is whether I spring the couple grand more for the GT over the Sport. Like the heated seats, don't care about the moonroof, like the leather wheel/shifter, like the HIDs/LED tail lights. Decisions, decisions....

If you don't care about the Manual Transmission vs. the Auto Transmission, I would go for the Grand Touring (dunno), I guess it is worth it

Agreed. The MT meant I needed a Sport, but the Touring and Grand Touring both offer good value added for little money if you're willing to deal with an automatic :)

Personally, I'd rather have an auto in my commuter. My car time these days is less entertainment and more isolation and relaxation. (sleep) not (wrc)

I drive a manual and in commuter mode I shift at 2,500rpm to save on gas, you'd think I was driving a diesel bus or something. lol. (The commuter bus used to be manual transmission 10 years ago, it was pretty cool). Just because I drive manual I don't drive crazy all the time, in normal driving mode I won't shift more than 3,000rpm usually, once in awhile when I need the extra lift I'll rev it up to 4, 5, 6, but I could easily do that in an automatic by mashing the gas pedal to the floor. I honestly don't mind driving manual in traffic, it's all the other @$$hole drivers that get to me more than my transmission which is why I choose to take commuter rail instead lol, it's saved us from having to buy a second car.

Picked up a 2010 Sport for 15,500 + TTL ($600ish..no sales tax in OR) and 4.9% for 72 months.

Super stoked since the wife and I were looking at used ones with 50-70k miles for 10ish.

Wow! That is an incredible deal! I have not seen anything close in New England (and I had been monitoring prices closely for a while until I pulled a trigger last month). Congratulations!

What state did you purchase ?

2010 GT $20916 out the door, not including taxes and tag

Hi: I am seriously purchasing Mazda5 GT soon, and need your insight of how you purchase your car

2010 GT Navi

Picked up a 2010 GT Navi from Browning Mazda in Cerritos, CA yesterday. $23790 after $500 rebate for the 3-mo 0% financing dealio.

My first Mazda after decades of Hondas.

Rebates

We got 1 $500 rebate. Browning tried to slip it passed us. "Oh, when we made this deal, you didn't say anything about that." BS. While he was coming up with excuses, I pulled up mazdausa.com on my iphone and showed him:

2010 Mazda5 0.0% APR for up to 36 MONTHS PLUS $500 Customer Cash PLUS 0 monthly payments for 90 days Details: 36 MONTHS PARTICIPATING LENDER FINANCING AT $27.78 PER MONTH PER $1,000 FINANCED. 0.0% APR ONLY FOR WELL QUALIFIED BUYERS. NOT ALL BUYERS WILL QUALIFY. AMOUNT OF DOWNPAYMENT AND OTHER FACTORS MAY AFFECT QUALIFICATION. Applicable customer cash to qualified buyers when financed through participating lender. Payment deferral not available in PA or where prohibited by law. Loan origination fees may apply. Take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 2/01/10. See dealer for complete details.

Curiously, he then said we needed to show proof of current reg of a Honda or Toyota. I don't see that anywhere in the requirements. With your mention of it here... maybe he was thinking of some other current promo? Or is that the secret handshake to get this deal? Would have been nice to know, since I didn't have reg paperwork from our wrecked Odyssey with me. And we drove 100 miles to get to Cerritos. :-/

All told, about 3 hours + drive time to pick up a car that had a pre-arranged deal and loan app paperwork filled out the day before. No wonder my weekend felt so damn short.

However, aside from time taken and feigning ignorance on the rebate deal, they were very accommodating and the finance guy didn't push too hard on all the add-on scams...errr, options.

Judging by other price stories, I score "fair" on deal-making ability.

Love the 5 so far.

I spent the weekend trying to shave off $250-500 on a Sport w/auto and popular equipment package and 2 dealers mentioned incentives for current Honda, Nissan and Toyota owners, which did me no good. Could have been a regional only deal, but they said it only required registration in my name, no trade-in. It certainly wasn't advertised and only came up when I said I was still on the fence. While I wasn't interested in that I was interested in the 0.0% + $500 but as soon as that came up the price magically went up $500-$1000.

I'm kind of glad nobody would take my offer though as I got some good news this weekend and am now considering the GT.

If you can live without a manual tranny, you will be much happier with a GT than a sport. I have a GT and enjoy it a lot

The Mrs. has ruled out a manual so that's no concern of mine. I have a purely for fun, completely impractical car that I'll be keeping anyways.

I'm looking at 21,250 right now for a GT with no options. In OR with no tax its like another $350 to get out the door. Probably could have done a few hundred better over the weekend but couldn't find the color combo I wanted and I was a little sick of the act now or else routine. Good deal?

Wasn't there a thread like this one back in 06-07? I think I pay if I can remember on my 06 sport is $17300.00 out the door.
