Nobody really knew what is was, and the fact that it had a 3rd row.

5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?

Styling, Size, Practicality

6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?

1) Interior Cubbies - mainly a centre console cubbie that is covered! 2) slightly more cargo space in the rear 3) completely removable 3rd row of seats

7. Do you plan to make any modifications?

Just got tint done, will put winter tires on alloys tomorrow, rear step bumper guard, stainless door sills, likely a bit more but not sure.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?

yep, tons.

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?

very positive - for me it is a great size vehicle without buying a full on mini van.

Third - 1994 MX6, 2002 PR5, 2010 Maz5

4. What other vehicles were you considering, and what would you have bought if the Mazda5 didn't exist?
CX7/9, Ford Edge, Dodge Magnum, no mini-vans.
I think I would have waited for the Mazda5 to exist...the price I wanted to pay didn't get me into a decent one of the other cars.

5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?
My PR5 = 4 year old feet in my back (no more!), exceptionally good value, flexibility

6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?
Turbo or Engine bump, ground fault fix for the AUX in (egads, I've rented 6 of these and all of them have terrible hum while the player charges), stealth?

7. Do you plan to make any modifications?
Bought it yesterday, and if I can get a kit locally I'll be putting in a new head unit ASAP. The factory HU is less than spectacular - the one in my PR5 was fine, but video was a must, so I replaced it with a JVC DDin video unit. I'm not sure if I will swap a new non-vid HU into the PR5 and move the existing one to the 5 or find another decent deal on an Pioneer AVIC or another JVC AVX.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?
Tons. Driven a half dozen of them.

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?
Lots of cursing and middle fingers. But that might just be the way I drive.

10. So, is the Mazda5 a MAV, a minivan, a space wagon, a microvan, crossover, toaster oven or what?
Cuisinart food processor.

11. What question did I forget to ask?
How many kids are you packing into this "six passenger" vehicle - 4.5 year old and 2.5 year old

4. What other vehicles were you considering, and what would you have bought if the Mazda5 didn't exist?
Our 2001 Civic needed a new motor, so we looked at replacing it with another Civic (I have a long commute). My wife fell in live with the Mazda5, though.

5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?
- Extra storage with 3rd row down
- Great features for the price (Leather, Bluetooth, heated seats, etc.)
- Sliding doors

6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?
- Better iPod/iPhone integration
- More legroom for front-seat passengers (Width). The dash feels extra wide.
- Factory tint/privacy glass
- Better rear climate control

7. Do you plan to make any modifications?
- Tint windows
- Address iPod integration, once I get my head wrapped around all of the options.
- Add roof rack, probably for 3rd child

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?
- I have, but I'm a little late to this thread

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?
- 'Is it a van?'

- I call it a mini minvan, or somewhere between a wagon and a minivan

Color: Sunlight Silver Metallic

Options: Crappy OEM all-season mats (Weather Tec next time). Hood edge protector.

No ('94 Protege SE, Several '88 323 GTX, '97 MX6 V6, '01 Protege LX 2.0l).

4. What other vehicles were you considering, and what would you have bought if the Mazda5 didn't exist?
Kia Rio would have gotten a test drive, but they cancelled the manual transmission, so it took itself out of the running.

5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?
- Ability to hold 3 baby seats
- Sunroof (gotta have!)
- Drives about as close to a Mazda 3 as you can get.

6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?
- Smaller surround of shifter (slimmer for more lateral knee clearance). Closer to '02-05 Civic SiR.(Canada), or Si(USA).
- More storage pockets up front.
- Retain power for windows/sunroof when motor is shut off (at least until you exit the vehicle) + auto 'up' on drivers window.

7. Do you plan to make any modifications?
- Trailer hitch (done).
- Mud flaps (stupid that they are not standard).
- Roof Rack.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?
- Lots of them around town.

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?
- Everyone wants to hop in and check it out.

10. So, is the Mazda5 a MAV, a minivan, a space wagon, a microvan, crossover, toaster oven or what?
- I like Micro van, but that honour really belongs to the Nissan Axxess (loved those too). I like how the English refer to them as an MPV, but then everyone assumes you drive an older Mazda MPV. So I just call it the van when my wife is not around. She loves her '5', but hates minivans...

11. What question did I forget to ask.
- Why on earth would Mazda decide NOT to market the AWD/4WD version in North America???

Cover on the center console like the 2007, tray table on the GS and cup holders for the second row.

No, just buy weathertech 3-row digital floor mats

Yes, there are plenty of Mazda5's in Winnipeg

Most people who saw it like it!

Most people are shocked on how big it is inside.

Rav4, CRV, Forester. Think I would have gotten the Forester.

First kid on the way, sliding doors, cargo space.

Power sliding doors, power front seats, stock mud flaps that work with side skirts.

Custom mud flaps!! My wife's the primary driver so problably no mods.

I guess this is from when they first came out. Noticed a lot more once I started car shopping last month.

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?
Pretty positive. haven't shown it to too many people yet.

Space/configuration/price

Tires, Toyo's are noisy/Covered center console/Windows operate after ignition off/ Fog lights/ Edit: Heck yea on the diesel, would love to have one.

Just cosmetic/Window Tint/Vent Shades/Trailer Hitch.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?

Yes and I liked what I saw.

Comments, fun to drive/bigger inside than it looks/

3. Is this your first Mazda? Sort-of. Husband briefly had an old Mazda rotary something. It barely ran, so didn't bother to remember what it was. It took some convincing to get him to agree to another Mazda.
4. What other vehicles were you considering, and what would you have bought if the Mazda5 didn't exist?

Rav4, Ford C-Max. Third-row Rav4's are near impossible to find, so probably would have waited for the C-Max to finally come out.
5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?

reasonable gas milage, seating capacity, van with a stick shift!
6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?

6-speed diesel stick, moonroof and other fun options available on MT, 4WD or AWD. Or, to wrap it into one thing, I just want a European Mazda5 here in the US!
7. Do you plan to make any modifications?

Tow hitch for sure, contemplating remote start and moonroof.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?
Very, very few.
9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?

Nope, owned a 2002 Mazda Protege5 for about a year a few years ago, loved it.

4. What other vehicles were you considering, and what would you have bought if the Mazda5 didn't exist?
Had purchased a 2006 Toyota Matrix 5 months eariler, but once I found out we were having twins... sold it and bought the 5. Didn't consider any other vehicles, the 5 is in a class all it's own. if it didn't exist... probably either a Subaru Legacy wagon or Jetta TDI wagon.

5. What were the main three reasons why you chose the Mazda5?
1.Space/layout/design 2.Fuel economy 3.Handling/size

6. If you could change three things about the Mazda5 and/or the options avaliable for it, what would they be?
1.Diesel option 2.AWD option 3.MazdaSpeed version

1. Rear sway bar soon 2. it's still rolling on some very crappy winters, so soon some lower profile, wider Continental ExtremeContact DW's 3. Hitch should be arriving soon. 4. Weathertech digital fit mats and cargo mat should be arriving soon.

8. Have you seen any other Mazda5s on the road yet?
Around the metro Vancouver area there are tons of them, probably see 4 or 5 everytime I drive

9. What kind of reactions have you received from others on your new Mazda5?
Some just think of it as a mini-van, those in the know and who understand what it's all about are excited we got one and what to drive it

6 pass. seating in a small package, standard equipment on GT model, crash test score.

power hatch and power sliding doors, little more leg room up front, manual transmission available on all models.

LED interior lighting/license plate lights, custom all weather floor mats, HID high beams.

A few. Only 2 in my area so far.

Everyone likes it or makes fun of it being a "van", but love it once they take a ride.

-Features

-Drives like a car.

-Memory seats / mirrors
-I wish the interior lights came on when it was unlocked.

Probably not. (It's my wife's car)

They're pretty popular where I am, I see them all over the place.

Most people like it.

heh, I call it a mini mini-van, realistically it's a tall wagon, but to most people sliding doors = mini van.

• Space for my family
• Driving enjoyment
• Better fuel economy than previous vehicle

• Better fuel economy
• More powerful engine
• Better interior materials

Yes

Very common in this college town

"It's a minivan."

Late-model Grand Caravan or a Prius.

Sliding doors, well-equipped Touring model, styling.

Better gas mileage, seat fabric, more soft-touch plastics.

Nope.
