Hi, I am a newbie..I just purhased my mazda5 GT..two days ago. I was charged 300 for dealer tint..but my windows do not look tinted at all to me. The glass has a greenish cast but does not look like this was added. I tried looking up other mazda5's but the ones I have seen have obvious tint. I am wondering if this was just factory tinted glass (standard) and was charged extra for it. I live in Az and this is not acceptable tint. I don't think I should have been charged 300 extra. What does the standard glass look like out of factory .. I know they have uv protection. Any info will help..thanks.

find a cop ...

seriously,
If you happen to know one, maybe see if they can test the glass for light transmission. If not a cop, then maybe a local tinting shop can give you some insight. By the way, what is the local tint law in AZ?

What no one has mentioned is the following. If you have had tint applied, then you should see a "border" at the upper edge of the window where the tint stops. normally there is approx an 1/8" area all around the top edge of the window that's not had tint applied. the transition is distinct. This border prevents the tint from getting damaged as it goes into the window seal.

Oh and BTW the 5 does not come with any factory tint or privacy glass. The glass is uv treated but that's it.

also $300 is pretty pricey for tint work. I've had several cars tinted and the 5 was the most expensive at $180

No border..I checked. My husband went back to the dealer and our sales person was not there. The manager said it was not tinted. We were charged 300 but the dealer, where the car came from, charged our dealer $175 for the tint job. Also the car that I found online ( which is the one I thought he went to get) has a different vin #. I am soo angry. We just signed a lease on this car. Also, the mazda 5 that we thought we purchased came with sirius that was listed on the options package..well he charged us an additional 350 ..so we are going to have to spend our 4th at the mazda dealer, finding out what he did.. Thanks so much..I think we were screwed.

it's bad sales people/manager like these make a bad name for everyone else. i'm in sales myself, i do thing the honest way.. no beating around the bush.. everything straight up. i find most people will perfer this way now.

My husband is a pharmaceutical sales rep. and we said all we want to do is be treated as fairly as possible..no games. We trusted him, he was low pressure, soft spoken, and knew the mazda 5 in and out. He had drove an hour and a half to the next city to get my white GT. We never got to see the msrp because the car was being detailed when we arrived to finalize the paperwork. This was 9:30 pm..june 30 end of month. We did not realize the windows were not tinted (being nightime) also we did not initial the lease agreement on the inspection of vehicle part..but everything else was signed. He called today to say the finance business office was closed because of holiday. He will call tomorrow. We asked for the original msrp on vehicle and I have yet to let him know we realized the vin # is different. I love my new vehicle and don't want it to get ugly. Any advice on what we should do if he tries to cover his tracks. I mean hide the costs somewhere else? What rights do we have as far as our lease goes..we feel mislead.

I'm sorry to hear that ... not only did they screw your holiday, seems like they managed to screw up the entire purchase. When you said the window glass had a greenish cast, I had a feeling that they were not tinted at all.

Whether the sales guy did that on purpose or not, you should, at the very least, demand them to make it right. Don't back down (flame)!

No, I can be very sweet,,but when wronged .Watch out! We almost went to Honda because that is where we usually get our cars,,no sick feeling afterward. Everything cut and dry, no haggle. But I loved the looks of the Mazda5Gt. We need to get a hold of the Car msrp sticker..that is what we never got to see. They removed it. How do we get him to give us that? Since the car came over from another Dealer I think he might pass the blame.
