Mazda3 or MS3

:
06 MAZDA6S
Whats up guys I need your help here. Since my 6 was wrecked i've been kind of hurt about owning another mazda. So I've looked at other imports but none of them seem to do anything for me. So I finally decided to move foward. I want a 3 but I don't know which on to get. Gas mpg's are not even a factor in this. Now the problem at hand which will be better? A regular 3 then turbo it or buy the MS3.

The SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my MZ3 but i regret everyday not getting the speed. Although I wanted a sunroof, a stock turbo/intercooler and hella other s*** (like that orgasmic MS3 exhaust note) is a much better deal for basically the same sticker price. Damn me for not getting that black '08 GT instead of my gray '08.5 GT!!!...maybe

(and you can't forget the 263HP and 281TQ vs. 158HP and 162TQ...from the same engine)

Buy the speed! No contest! There's so much you can already do to this car, and there's going to be even more very soon with COBB's street tuner and similar products!

Speed 3 FTW!

they arent the same engines...

i dont think the non turbo 3 engines are direct injection.

If money is an issue, id get the Mazda 3 2.3, but if not and you want a turbo anyway why even consider a non turbo 3. You get a factory turbo with a warranty, plus stiffer chassis, suspension, etc, etc.

Both are great cars. The speed eats tires and can up your chances for run ins with the local constables.

Both have identical interior room, and look pretty close to one another from the outside. You can get more comfort features with the MZ3 and can get a sunroof and actual leather. The speed leather bolsters = not so nice.

Good feedback so far the only thing that worries me are the people who have problems with their speeds.(the ones who have not modded the hell out of them) I drive my cars hard at times and I don't want to worry about failure because I got alittle happy, and why can't you boost in 5th?or was it 6th?

I feel you man... I love my MZ3 too, but I do think about the MS3 a lot more too due to the power difference. Getting all the mods and whatnot to bring the power from an MZ3 up to a MS3 will take about the same amount of difference the cost will be. The only pros is that you can get those mods any time you want, and you get to have a sedan over a hatch.

Mine is far from stock and I haven't really had any problems. You have to look at it from the perspective of the vocal minority who have had problems. Also, you don't necessarily know the whole story with why they are having problems.
People see grenaded motors and think ZOMG! I've heard of a few myself only to read further down the line and realize they miss shifted and over rev'd the motor.
Aside from the intake runner control valve that the Speeds and the CX7s had in late 06, my car has only been to service for the odd recall (motor mount bolt and the updated flash)
That's it. I'm almost 2 years and 30k into my car and would buy it again in a second. This is the first car I've ever said that about. After 2 years, I'm usually shopping for "what's next". I'm currently looking forward to the next several years of ownership. The car is that good.

I went from a 3 to a Speed ...

If gas isn't a concern then go ahead and get the Speed. Although ... with a SRI I'm getting ridiculous gas mileage. (Babying the car)

Nothing beats a Speed for the price, you'll have so much fun.

No buyers remorse!

if you want a nice fast car with no work the speed, but a 2.3 lt mazda 3 will have more options down the road, and can easily be way faster than a speed3 with some work, yes the suspension is stiffer but you would want to upgrade it weather speed 3 or not, the only real benefit of the speed is the lsd.

easier how? Define way faster.

I'm not trying to start a "which car is better" contest but making a car with 160hp into a car with 260hp is not easy.
It's entirely possible, sure. Why buy something and try to make it something else? Especially when that something else is available from the factory? Seems silly.

ha i agree with you 100% and i shouldnt of used easyily, what i was trying to say was if you want to work on a car, and are a type of person who would like to build his car up then the reg 3 would give you more options down the road, because with di its very hard to control fuel, but yes like you said..all ready to go with warrant go with the speed-and high 9's low 10s with reg 3(with work...alot)

Depends on your priorities and your budget. This is off the top of my head, but I figure the price of a MS3 will net you a pretty decked out MZ3. The MS3 is not what I call "decked out", but it goes!

I don't really need a decked out car stock, because the first thing to go will be the factory system, and I have two pitbulls so no need for leather maybe just some seat covers for the rear seat. My only issue is the problems people have with the car. Thats why i'm wondering would it be less of a pain to just get the mz3 an turbo it.

The car won't have any problems unless you plan on modifying it, and then you just need to be careful about what you put in. As long as it is stock, this car is just as reliable as anything else out there.

If you plan on modifying it, just do your research before you do anything to it and you'll be fine.

Also, if you want your car to last don't get anywhere near Hayward Mazda in Hayward, CA. I'll have an elaboration on this in the welcome area/lounge for mazdaIII.com.
