Help!

Does anyone know if this TSB (MT000003562 2.0L Engine Noise with Coolant Temp) has been rectified with Mazda U.S.?

My Protege5 sounds like its falling apart in the mornings while in 2nd, 3rd, and fourth gears at 2800 to 3300 rpms!

Any help would be appreciated!

This affects 2002 and earlier proteges. I have heard of some people on '03s, but no 03.5's.
I dont know what you mean by "rectified," but you can take the car in to your dealer, have them diagnose the problem, and they will re-flash the ECU and replace one small part in the throttle body that comes into contact with the butterfly.
This is a warrantied repair, and is free.

Does it sound like this?

That's my motor with a bad rod bearing.
AHHHHHHH my car makes that sound i'm pretty sure but it's warm right now. does it do it when warm too? I'm gonna go outside and check. Oh and this sounds like a serious thing, is it a big expense to get fixed? I'm still under oem warranty and i have extended and I think I have a 60 day from the dealership that I bought from :(

EDIT: it's not doing it now, but I just got home so the engine is still warmed up. I'm almost positive it sounds like that in the morning. Is this supposed to happen with 22k miles?

Yep, wasted rod bearing. A mere 3800 bucks at the dealer if it isn't warrantied. Give it a few more miles and it will do it when warm. The final thing that made me bring my car in was the knock at around 2K, which I never noticed until I had it on a dyno.

Evilman, you need a new motor if it's doing that- woah, scary same year and color too!

My shortblock was replaced at 30.5K. It's going back in soon for some more engine noise. :(

well it sorta aounds like that ONLY wen it is cold.. so its not a rod bearing

edit:its the cold engine temp thingy... has there beeen a fix for it yet?

Mine was only doing it while cold for awhile...I never noticed it while warm inside the car. Outside the car was when i heard it warm. Take it in and let the dealer decide what's wrong. The bad rod bearings may be more common than I thought.

Mine doesn't sound like that. But my car sounds a little rough around 2500-3500 rpm when it's cold. It doesn't make that awful metallic hiss.

ive noticed when my p5 is cold and i first start it....it sounds like absolute crap. I have a short ram intake on it but the car sounds like its howling. Also, when it first starts up it sounds really rough for the first few seconds. Before it warms up it also sounds like it has a little bit of a knock. nothing too loud but could be problematic in the future (after my warranty is done). Anyone else have these problems?? Also, the issue of modding a car and it voiding the warranty, ive read a bunch of different posts about this and still cant figure out if the dealership would gimme a hard time if i took it in for an engine noise and i have an intake on it. Thanks.

I took mine in with all the mods listed below. They said nothing about ANY of the mods.

my dad listend to it wen i drove. he said its the cold start up thingy..

There was a site with all of the TSB's listed, and i just printed it off and took it to the
mazda dealer and said hey.. fix it! But that was to do with the clutch hop.

If I bring it in for the coolant tsb they wont do anything to fix it? I just read the tsb and it says that they are still investigating the problem or something
