I was wondering what car would win in a race?
If a 2003.5 Mazda speed protege Vs. a 2002 Volkswagen GTI 1.8 Turbo Race which car would win?
 
msp if the gti doesn't have the chip
heavy modify msp vs heavy modify gti i will say the msp!!
 
it really comes down to who is the better driver, and who has more stickers on their car.

He wants me to get the MSP up to a level to compete with him. Says it's boring around here right now for him, lol. I think he ran 35 psi on that run? Geez, Louise. Glad I know what his car looks like.

those 1.8t gti's arent all tht fast stock but it doesnt take much for them to go from slow to balls out fast. the parts however are VERY expensive for them but if uve got the money ull get massive amounts of power. stock for stock ill go with the msp just because my zx2 which runs prob 17s stock in the quarter and its a crapomatic hangs with them of course i dont beat them but thts besides the point and i dont see why a msp wont beat it.

My buddy's gti pulls on me with a cai, full exhaust, chip, and 20 psi of boost... my mods are cai, fmic, fcd, apex catless dp and exhaust, fidanza flywheel, mpnick turbo upgrade, on 12 psi... mind you i still need to get some sort of ems, but it still pulls

of course hes gonna pull hes running 20 psi and ur only running 12 boost it up to 20 like him and show him whos boss or better yet whos his daddy!!! yeah

Hopefully you'll get one good run in before your bottom end turns into soup. But then again you could have a factory freak while others are breaking at 10psi.

This is because GTI's have the shittiest turbo's ever they are the K03 turbo i believe and they are about the size of an electric hairdryer my friend has a 1.8T with APR chip on 22lbs with exhaust intake and better intercooler piping and it only puts 210WHP down not to mention they are a tank.
 
well maybe the guy isnt a tool and sold his stocker for decent money and picked up a used T3 for under $200 and had a adaption plate made. suddenly 22psi is alot more scary sounding.
 
The GTI responds better to heavy mods, but has more kgs to haul around. I'd bet on the MSP stock-to-stock, road race - but I'd swing my wager heavily in the GTIs direction if both players were given the same amount (say $2000 or so) to invest in their cars. A chipped GTI with a limited slip and stiffer suspension is scary fast and super ni-ice.
 
I pulled on a 1.8T Saturday night... close run but I had him by a few lengths. He had me out the hole but I closed on the 1-2 shift and pulled from there. Didn't have time to check what he was working with but I have a HiBoost FMIC and Injen CAI as the only mods on my car. On the flip side I got torched by a Vr6 the same night....

Hmm... thats weird b/c a stock GTI 1.8T and VR6 have the same 0-60 time and the VR6 is only slightly (very slightly) quicker through the quarter mile so it probably just all depends on what the VR6 had for mods and the drivers.
