Mazda service tech

I went to the dealership and I have been dealing with this service tech because of a bad tint job on my car. Well in our conversations i asked about the Mazdaspeed CAI and exhaust and he assured me if i purchased them and installed them it would void the warranty for problems that may be related with them. Is this true because I have read many posts debating this issue. I hate to drag this along but it was on my mind as I am looking at doing the CAI in the future.

Only thing you can mess up by installing a cai is if you somehow leave screws or something inside the intake or forget the air filter and something gets sucked up through the turbo and into the motor. If you do something like forget to connect the maf sensor your car will just run like crap if it runs at all but won't damage anything.

Just don't try fording any rivers. Take the ferry across.

I am not to worried about damaging anything with the CAI, I just found it funny how this is a Mazdaspeed vehicle and they said they would not warranty issues that may come up because of a mazdaspeed accessory. He even said some mazdaspeed3's come stock with the MSP CAI but they have different tuning done to them. I think hes full of s***!

Is this People's? They can't void everything in the warranty. They can't hold you against a blown strut for having a CAI. I'd go to Courtesy for getting work done if I were you. Their a little more lenient with aftermarket parts in our cars.

Do you have a POC over there? Would be nice to deal with someone we can trust.

WORD! Cedric at Courtesy is very cool with our cars. He knows me (and most of his customers) by first name, and that is refreshing.

He ticked me off once by commenting on what trans fluid to use (I was discussing Redline with him), but other then that its been smooth sailing with Cedric.

If you're worried about the warranty, like said above, have the dealer install it. Since it's a mazdaspeed accesory (of the type that they warranty - look at the color codes), if they install it, it'll be covered.
