2023 CX-5 Clicking Noise Under Dash

I also had this problem on a 2021 CX-5. After a bit of back and forth, the dealer resealed the windscreen (didn't replace the glass but redid the adhesive). Seems to have fixed the problem thankfully, as the noise was insanely annoying!

All these vids sound the exact same as mine. Bought used 21 Carbon AWD with 20k on it. I have figured warmer weather but not hot makes it worse. It's quiet as a mouse in the am on way to work. Once it warms up a the end of the day, it's creaking all the way home. So far nothing I yank on in or under the dash makes noise but it sounds identical to all these videos.

I"ll reach out to a local glass company ( Safelight or similar) to see if they can reinstall it.

This is 100% due to your windshield.

I had the same issue, my comment and video is further up. My local dealership finally sent my vehicle in to a glass shop, had my windshield taken out and reset back in. This was done about May 30th and I have no heard the noise since!!!! Mazda needs to recall this. If your local dealer or Mazda won’t help you maybe check with a glass company to see what they will charge you out of pocket to take your current windshield out and reset it back in.

Yes, my dealership did that and it does seem to have fixed the problem. Agree that Mazda needs to issue a bulletin to dealerships so customers don't have to fight for this fix. I don't think it is even particularly expensive to have the windscreen refitted as new glass is not required. Good to hear you got it fixed.

I don't know if it's the windshield in my case because when I pull my car out of the garage in the morning, just by turning the steering wheel all the way, sometimes it will make the exact same click noise once, and the car is barely moving.

Doesn’t mean your windshield isn’t one of the issues. in the garage it could be one of a few things:
- steering shaft is loose. someone commented a YouTube video with an easy fix.
- sway bar bushings need re-greased. in my experience this makes more of a popping noise when you crank the steering wheel and exit a driveway. there is a Mazda service bulletin for this issue, they should gladly fix it if you mention the issue.
- your steering components have a limit / hard stop — if you crank quickly enough and with some force, something’s going to want to stop. Might be a click from a tie rod ball joint. Who knows, turning the wheels might even put torsion on the whole frame that causes your windshield to make contact with metal.

All that said, I wouldn’t rule it out.

Good luck! I had no luck with them fixing it.. Although I have multiple videos on my phone, Mazda will not fix unless they can replicate the noise.. I noticed it happens when the day starts to warm up from a cold day so during the colder months..

Thanks!
Update: My dealer agreed to replace the windshield sealing at a glass shop.
Looks like the issue is resolved for now!
I highly recommend pushing them to do it for you as well.
The dealer reported that the fix was relatively cheap.
