The Rev It Up event was badass. Myself, a co-worker, and two of my cousins showed up and oh yes we did drive!
The whole line up of Mazda cars was available to drive around the test track including a yellow 2003.5 MSP.
On the test track they stressed DONT GO FAST.
Yeah right! We tore that test track up in a 6s turned off the traction control, put it in manu-matic mode and 1st-2cnd geared it the whole way. It was a blast. One chode hit the moose they had on the track and he was escorted off. Moose?
Yeah moose. They had this cardboard moose setup to pop up at you when you were busting ass around the "Test drive" track.
Of course we ran the 6 speed Miata and MSP around as well.
You started off in one of several lines. Each one labeled as to which model of car was awaiting you.
Then once the cars came around you were waved up to the one in front of you and you drove around and waited while the course worker gave you the lo-down. The first section had a "acceleration test" sign, straight into a ABS test sign (which we ran every time), it went straight into a hard left and through a slalom section. It was one of the longest tracks at the event.
I cant remember all the details but man it was cool. I was just barley keeping on the course and we were risking ejection but man we ran that test course all day in-between the competition runs and the race clinics.
There were about 3 yellow 2003.5's around the place one was a Sirius radio car, one was in a performance tent, and one was on the test track. BTW the 6s sucks nuts compared to our cars. It has great brakes and handles well for a big front drive but man MSP stomps its ass. I am really glad I didnt buy one now.
They had a bunch of free coin op games to play, co-carts, and unlimited test drive runs. All in all the best 39 bucks I ever spent.
Mt 10 yr old daughter was strapped in the back on our test track runs and was screaming like a hyperactive banshee. She had as much fun as we did. I really liked the fact that you could ride with your buds while they drove the test track and vice versa. Dont buy that keep it in automatic mode crap they tell you at the chalk talk and in the clinics. The Pros got us aside at the competition and told us to turn off the traction control and to use 1st-2ncd all through the course. Drive the 6s in manual mode on the
test drive track and push it make sure you get the hang of the manu-matic before the
competition run. In the standard drive position its a real dog.
I didnt win but at 39.00$ how could I lose?
If you can go then by all means do so. It is great.
Ive only got a few pics because my 10 yr old deleted them off my camera at the Event GRRR!
The guy in the pics is a Pol-lock friend of mine who ran the event with me. See his orange race bracelet? They give you one of those and a race card.
The black Miata is seriously hoped up Flying Miata turboed car.
The PR5 is a turboed seriously modded, roll cage, NOS, suspension etc. etc.
Oh and my cousin's DSM.
