mazda mp3 intake question..plz read!!!

okay, so my sisters boy friend just bought an mp3 es 2003...about 10 days ago...and hes asking me to find him an cold air intake or an short ram intake...but i'm not a big fan of mazda so i don't know much about mazda...the only really big question about i have is about the stock intake tube...he says that there is this air sensor thing in the tube...or something like that...i havent look at the engien yet so i have no idea what he is talking about...so if he do buy a intake, would the intake have to have the air sensor thing???thats all i need to know...any help will be great...thanks!!!

there where no 2003 mp3 only 2001. yeah it will come with the hole and usually with a new grommet to hold sensor in place. but it will not come with a new sensor.

first off...there is no 2003 mp3....

and no, the intake attaches to it...just tell him to buy an injen cai...comes with everything you need

okay...my bad...so its not a mp3...but i thought it was becasue they kind of look alike...lol...its a protege es...not the hatch but the four door...yeah...but the intakes on ebay that i found didn't show that air sensor thing...

I think you mean the air temperature sensor, I personally have the Injen CAI and it comes with a hole already in it all you have to do is use the stock ruuber gromet that came from the stock airbox it looks like a ring.and then just place the the air temp sensor-->rubber gromet---> hole in the intake. It's easy.

that picture is just a basic intake picture supplied to me by Ractive - the actual protege specific intake has all the holes and plumbing needed to attach all sensors to it.

kool...so i guess i'll tell him to get that...unless he wants an cold air intake...then off to ebay we go...another question...those pictures on ebay are also just examples....right...if i get it...is should have all the holes and stuff...just unsure...thanks

when it comes to ebay i always say it is "caveat emptor" (let the buyer beware). now, some people have had real good luck with ebay intakes and others have gotten completely different or poor quality items that look nothing like what is shown - so it varies.

if you see any "power chips" for sale, stay away, stay far far away :)

i would think so....

and you can get a pretty good deal on an inJen if you find someone selling a used one usually....it looks so good...i love mine :p

okay then, i'll ask those sellers on ebay if the intake has that sensor hole...don't want to buy the intake with no hole...and does the protege 5 intake and mp3 intake fit the protege???

i just emailed the seller and waiting for him to email me back...if it goes well...he's thinking of getting that intake...but the filter looks gay as hell...

no, he doesn't want to spend that much on an intake...although k&n is cheeper then AEM and ingen...might as well buy an ebay cold air intake...but don't know yet...
