mazda mazdaspeed protege 5 sport speed exhaust muffler

Axle back is just that, it replaces the section of piping from the axle back (muffler and tip basically). A cat back will replace all piping from the cat converter to the tip....hence why they are more $$$$. If you plan on going cat back, check out the Racing Beat.

well i WOULD do a catback but its just too much money, plus i'm gonna mod to improve the fun levels while driving:) so for an pro5 it would be a good idea for the axleback sport exhaust?

i guess it depends on what you mean by fun. your really not going to get any huge gains from a cat back anyways. i like my axle-back because all i was looking for was a great sound from my car since i knew that i wouldnt be getting any power out of it anyways. so for me the cheap price of the mazdaspeed p5 axle-back justified itself. i just couldn't justify spending the extra money on maybe a 3-5 horsepower increase ( let's be real here) over stock. the mazdaspeed axleback has great tone, sounds sporty and fun and will not piss your neighbors off. the drone easily goes away on the highway with alittle music. and it makes those downshifts sound twenty times better (drive)

I've had my MS axle-back for 4.5 years and I drive around 100 miles per day. And it's fine. Everyone makes this exhaust out to be the most annoying exhaust ever, but it's not true. For the money, it's awesome.
