Mazda in the Mountains 2007

Ooo Melting pistons is never a good thing. If you want to melt something (talking for the meet) go to Lic's on Memorial.
mmmmmmmmmmm Ice cream!!

oh fun, maybe you can tell me what's wrong with my car? stealership's trying to tell me that my piston rings are fried and its not covered under warranty, but i call bulls*** on that cuz we both did compression tests and it was fine! after the car sits over night it smokes like crazy when you start it in the morning, as seen here. i've had more that one person say head gasket, what do u think?

Ya, espesially since this is my second engine already... These cars suck, even forged.

how did they determine piston rings?
if they do piston rings, that means they gotta replace the head gasket too LOL. I am inclined to say HG

i think they are just being lazy. they told me i should just buy a used engine and have them drop it in. i told them to go screw themselves. they wanted to put a used tranny in too instead of rebuilding mine

If it's lots of black/blue smoke on startup, it may actually be a valve stem seal. If its your piston rings, you could do a compression test, then add some oil into each cylinder, and then do another compression test. If the compression goes up a lot, then it's rings. If not, then it's valve or possibly even head gasket related. Head gasket failure usually results in a mysterious loss of coolant. Just my 2 cents.

well theres no oil in my coolant, no coolant in my oil, and no coolant disappearing. so i guess that leaves rings or valves... anything else? piston rings aren't covered on my warranty (i bought it used) cuz its a "wear item" but im pretty sure gaskets, seals, valves, etc are. i just cant afford to be wrong cuz then i'd have to pay for it

you calgary guys are hard on your rides. that's a lot of smoke out of that tailpipe.
nick, was it running lean. how were the egt's? you gonna give up on the car?

Not lean man, AFR's way down i nthe 11's to high 10's. THinking that one cylinder is running lean though cause of the airflow path into it. I can trim each injector individually, so I'll try that and see. I think I'm gonna give up on it though, ya...

with the current state of forest fires I don't think I'll make it again this year..

woah woah..done already so fix it and drive it or fix it and sell it?

okay okay okay... SO I found the perfect place to meet!!

Northland Mall (off shaganappi and crowchild)

We could all meet on the top at 8pm on this tuesday!

I would really like to see some of you!! I hope I'm not going to be sitting up there at 8pm all by myself hahaha!
