Any venue ideas? I was thinking going south around the turner valley/black diamond area.

I'd like everyone's input.

That might work... Any particular location/venue you had in mind?

I really enjoyed the meet last year in Bow Valley, and the subsequent run up Norquay. Nice location, decent drive (without being too far from Calgary), and I think most people in attendance would agree. However, I understand the need to change things up a bit.

Any ideas yet on dates?

Turner Valley? That is about 1 hour south of Calgary correct? Is it mountainy?

A mountain area I would suggest would be Kananaskis. Closer than Banff, but still very nice. Some lakes, Nakiska, etc. Just my 2 cents.

Someone brought up the topic about the ones coming in from Edmonton. It'll be quite a drive. So I guess jaybag is right..Kananaskis/Bow Valley area again? No need to buy park passes in Banff.

How about HWY 40?
From Hwy 1, all the way around the back and come back from Hwy 2 south of Calgary?

I've been there once a while back, there are some lakes, mountains etc, etc...

Perhaps there could be a poll as to how many would be coming from up north. Then figure out if they'd mind the drive. (that's a lot of figurin')

The southerly route you spoke of can be very scenic.

Alright so I got a map, and the first route (going on HWY 40 throught Nakiska, Fortress) is about 275km. The second route is going to Canmore, and then up the mountain to Spray Lakes and then back onto HWY 40, is about 320km.

We could stop at the lakes, do some fishing, BBQ, etc.

This could be an option.

I guess a scouting trip is in order. I'll keep people posted.
Please do - if I'm able to, I wouldn't mind joining in like last year. :)

Yo Glen, lets hold a scouting meet mid-may area so some people can start planning around that now. Say, 2nd weekend in may. Also, link to this thread on all your other forums, and make this thread the "official" one.

Hmm... sounds like a good idea... see how the fire season goes, perhaps I'll go for a drive...

I'm guessing the actual meet. That way we can all go out drinking and s***, and not have to worry LOL!

Overnight would be cool.. might actually be worth me driving 7hrs then...
