2017~2025: Mazda Fuel Pump settlement

:
2016 CX-5 Touring AWD
2019 CX-5 Reserve AWD
Anybody get the settlement postcard in the mail then went to the website to see if their VIN is affected?

I plugged my VIN into their validation screen and get the following -- "The VIN you entered belongs to an additional vehicle".
Haven't a clue what that means.

Postcard? I got a letter explaining the extension of warranty to 15 yrs... have not read it through yet.
My '17 CX5 GT.

Well, we have a postal strike ongoing in Canada right now, so who knows when (or if) I will see that postcard.

I got 2 postcards. One for my current 2019 GTR & one for my first 2019 GTR that was rear ended & totaled after 4 months.

So that means I would be getting 2 as well, one for my current '22 GS and one for my previous '20 GX which was totaled after less than 2 years.

Same, got the postcard as well today, and am an "Additional vehicle." Thankfully, the fuel pump seems ok.

Not sure what they mean by" Additional vehicle" unless they're talking about an addition vehicle added to the class action. Would of been alot easier if they just said "Your vehicle qualifies".
I have 2 CX-5's, even though the postcard had the VIN for my 2019 I thought maybe they were refering to my 2016. When I plugged that VIN in it said that vehicle doesn't qualify.

Gotta wonder about some of these law firms.

We received 2 postcards ... Both for two 2018 mazda3 HB we had bought. One has moved on and one my daughter still owns.

Has this really been a problem on CX-5's? I don't recall seeing any previous posts about problems with the fuel pumps.

Agreed. There’re 2 pumps (low pressure and high pressure) both are inside of gas tank. Not sure which one this settlement is referring to. Still it’s going to be costly for Mazda if they have to replace any of the fuel pumps and it’s safety hazard to open the gas tank.

I think this is an old recall. The pump on my 2018 was replaced 4 years ago on a recall. My 2019 shows no open or closed recalls related to the fuel pump.

it was a recall issued sometime early 2022 for some older models. 100,000 Mazdas. This is just a settlement from class action lawsuit somebody did after the recall. Likely because they didnt have parts in stock for an year or so back in the days. Newer models are not affected.
If you have paid ot of pocket the settlement can reimburse. All others can fix it (if not already) through a Mazda dealer for free due to the recall and they have parts now.

Sorry, I wasn’t thinking. Actually both low pressure and high pressure fuel “filters” are in the gas tank. Low pressure fuel pump is in the gas tank too, but the high pressure fuel pump is in the engine bay. Not sure which fuel pump this settlement refers to.

It sounds like the validation screen is indicating that your VIN is part of a larger batch or group of affected vehicles, but not necessarily listed individually. The "additional vehicle" message could refer to a broader category of cars that fall under the settlement but aren't listed separately in the system.

You may want to contact the settlement administrator directly to clarify why your VIN is flagged this way and to confirm whether you qualify for the settlement. They should be able to provide more details.
I'm not going to worry about it. I have OEM extended warranty so if anything happens it'll either be covered under the warranty or the Mazda Customer Support program.

So do we get a new fuel pump or not? I haven't got a card yet.

EDIT: I entered the vins for both my vehicles and I'm not part of the recall. My vins start with J

I just did some searching on the 'net, and it appears that this applies to CX-5 model years 2017 through 2019. So neither of my CX-5's ('20 & '22) would be part of it.

Sounds like if you have a 17, 18, or 19 and the fuel pump blows you get a new one. Mazda's not going to replace it if there's nothing wrong.
