Mazda Extended Service

Anyone purchased any of Mazdas' extended service contracts? Interested in the cost, miles and what covered.

The dealership offered it to me if I wanted to make the purchase on it. But unlike other Manufacturers where the extended warranty will kick in when the OEM one expires. They mentioned that MAZDA would be active at the same time as the OEM one so to me it seemed like a total waste of money. I cannot recall exactly how much it was but if I took a guess I would say it was around $1800 additional because my scratch dent coverage was $1500 and I bought that.

Oh and that was to cover me up to 50k miles oem warranty is 36k

If I recall correctly, they offered me 3 different types of extended warranty (based on duration). I think they started around $1200, and went up to just over $2000 -- give or take a few hundred.

I passed after they said "no" to three consecutive "does it cover this?" questions. Plus I was already at my redline price.

You don't have to buy the contract at your local Mazda dealer. ANY Mazda dealer in the US can sell it to you. There was a web address for a Ford/Mazda, etc dealer that basically sold warranties to a lot of customers at a lower cost per warranty. I don't remember the website though.

an entry of "Ford Extended Warranty" on Google brings THIS. C'mon people, its at your fingertips

That's actually it, thanks Shaz.

I have never inquired about an extended warranty, but from what I've read on various forums. The price on their website is a good bit less than what your dealer would offer you.

Of course you could always take this info to your local dealer if you want to support them and ask them to match the price.

I've never kept a car past its warranty period, although I did buy the extended warranty on my '04 S2000 (only vehicle I ever did this with as I thought I might actually keep it for more than my typical 2 years)... you know how they always say "it'll increase the value of your car when you go to sell it" - I figured okay fine, I'll test your theory... sure enough it didn't make any difference on the resale value.

I bought one on my civic and its more of a peace of mind then anything else cause no matter what... stuff happens even to good cars..... but after I crashed it into oblivion with only 46000 miles on it I got money back for the remainder of the contract.... it ended up being like 350 bucks but the extended was only like 500 for a 5 year 60k warranty.....
my mom worked at a car dealer and she told me just to ask about it cause if you dont ask about it then the dealer gets your money if you dont claim it.... also I think that if you dont use it at all in the warranty period that you can also get a percentage back too but I'm not shure you'd have to ask them

Here you go...

I printed this out and took it into my dealer. He asked me not to share this with anyone else cause it was cheaper than he was offering. He had to match the price because you can buy the warranty from any Mazda dealer.

If you sell the car with any unused portion, they will refund the prorated amount. There is a huge mark up on warranties. I like the peace of mind of having the warranty for about $30 a month added to my payment.

I would add the rental car reimbursement so you have a car during any extended repairs, even if it's a small piece of crap. I can live with a rental for a few days and beat the hell out of it too.

Thanks chris41: I have never bought an extended care plan. I think they are an unnecessary money maker for the seller. However; now that I drive a turbocharged CX7 with the additional "stuff", I am reconsidering. Dealer said I can wait until the 3/36 is almost over to buy. Ed

I like how they will sell you an extended warranty labeled "Powercare" for 5 years, 60k miles. Why if you look at what the Powercare warranty covers it is exactly the same as the powertrain warranty... which also incidentely lasts 5 years and 60k miles.

Except turbos aren't covered under the Powercare, you've gotta go at least to Statedcare before they start covering turbos.

Yes before even considering, one has to do some serious homework. I will do some studying before deciding which IF any will be best for me.

what if

what if you print out that authorized for warrenties online page and say match it what do u think they will do

It doesn't really matter if they will match it or not. You can buy your warranty from any Mazda dealer. That website is a Mazda dealer selling a genuine Mazda warranty. If they won't match it, then simply buy it on the website and go about your day. Its the same thing as buying it at your local dealer.

The website isn't a 3rd party warranty dealer, it is a authorized Mazda dealership.

stated care is good...but not bumper to bumper...watch out...i sell these warranties and you want bumper to bumper or alot of times the warranty will not pay out. These policies are tall third party policies, so dont think they come from mazda....read the fine print on that. Stated coverage means that if it is stated its covered. If it does not state the particular part...not covered
