Mazda CX-5 US bound engines programmed differently?

Hi everyone. Not looking to start another debate about 5w30 vs 0w20 (although this post may inherently do that :) as I've seen tons of debates about this).

I'm simply looking to clarify if something is true.

Is it true or not, that Mazda does program their skyactiv non turbo engines that are bound for the United States Differently than the same engines going to different countries (maybe something to do with a variable oil pump but not sure) in a way that makes 0w20 the better choice than 5w30 for these 2025 Non turbo N/A skyactiv engines?

I Know about the Cafe standards but Im wondering if they recommend this oil JUST because of that or if its the way they programmed the computer...

I did my first oil change with 5w30 instead of the recommended 0w20 but will go back to the 0w20 if its better due to the whatever they did differently.

Thanks

you are good with a full syn 5w30. Dont need to worry about it from engine/oil perspective.

warranty ..well thats another topic. But if you imported US model say in EU, warranty doesnt apply anyway.

Heh. And the first reply immediately restarts the debate about 5w30 vs 0w20 :D

Maybe someone can reply to/answer the OP's actual question? ...

Yes. Lower compression ratio for example. Fuel quality here in North America is lower than in Europe.

But, that is not why 0W20 is recommended here.

You're good with 5W30.
