Mazda CX-5 won't read my text messages

Hello,

I have a 2015 CX-5, and recently got a new Samsung Galaxy s6 edge. I was excited and loved the fact that I could download my text messages from my car, and then it would read them to me. However, all of a sudden about a week and a half ago it stopped reading them to me.

It allows me to click download message, it downloads, but then when I push on the speaker icon next to the message nothing happens except an "X" shows over the speaker icon. I thought maybe the volume was down, but I checked and it was fine as far as I could tell. I read some other forums and they suggested deleting all messages and "hangouts" which I did and that still did not work.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? I relied on this feature since my work requires me to use my personnel phone most of the time. Anyone have any advice or what else I can try to resolve it?

Thank you in advance!

I've had the same issue on my 2014 and a Galaxy S4 (I need to get a new phone). My dealer gave me the 800 number for Bluetooth, since bluetooth stopped working and they had to approve a replacement. I mentioned this issue with the phone, and they said that different phones have different capabilities with the bluetooth unit. They said it was normal with my phone for it to notify me that there is a message, and when I click on it to get the x over the speaker icon. They also gave me a website where it listed what phones did what with their bluetooth. Since I can't get it to read the messages, I don't know why it even bothers to tell you there is a message.

I have had this problem on and off with my 2014 and Galaxy S4. What I found is that it will read the text messages until you get one that is MMS (contains a picture or video). Then it stops working. Can't quite figure out how to get it working again every time, but I know you need to delete all messages in your inbox and reboot your phone after that. The MMS messages that arrive "taint" the non-MMS messages somehow so even when you delete the MMS messages from your inbox and try and download the non-MMS ones, it still fails. Then one day, by magic it seems, things work again...until you get an MMS message that is!

I assume '16+ can read as well but text messages on my iPhone 6S can be read out loud with infotainment on my '15.

Never had problems with my 2016.5 and my S7 Edge or iPhone 6S.

I actually ended up killing text message integration when I tweaked the infotainment with the All-in-One tweaks. I wanted it gone completely since I rarely answer the phone over Bluetooth, much less text messages.
