Ok has anyone seen the latest issue of R&T? Is it just me or does anybody else think that the "new" vette looks similar to another car that we all have seen recently "cough" RX8 "cough". I know it probably isn't the case but I find it very interesting that the RX8 comes out and car mags are going nuts over how new and interesting the design is. Then BINGO! Chevy is all: look at our new interesting designed vette!:bs:

I noticed this also.

I thought it looked like a mix of the RX-8 and the 350Z.

Its no surprise though. Look at a current corvette next to the NSX. Look at the Cavalier next to a mitsubishi mirage of a few years before.

They are not exactly original, thats for sure.

If you look carefully at the article, you will notice that when they say "new vette revealed" or whatever, it actually means, they made a computer generated idea of what they (being the people at R&T) think that it will look like from the information they have been able to gather. That means that the actual car will probably end up looking nothing like that. I do agree with you about the RX8 look alike point though, that is the exact same thing i thought when i picked up the mag, also the headlights look lifted directly off of the restyled NSX.

Put the RX-8 side-by-side with the S2000. Some similarity there as well.

they both have 2 head lights, 2 tail lights, 4 wheels, 4 seats! AMAZING!

people are running out of designs so i guess everything will look similar..

I thought the same thing (dude looks like a RX8) reading Road & Track. I take drawings of new Vettes with about the same amount of salt as an Elvis sighting. I remember the 2 & 4 rotor Wankel 'Vettes...loved the 2 rotor styling...the 4 rotor was the old Aerovette with the 454 taken out and a Wankel installed.

Hey at least it doesn't have FOUR god-damn doors!

Tom Matano the head desighner of the rx-7 and m1 miata (and I think the new rx8) also headed up the desighn team on the c5 vette. Perhaps he also desighned the new vette. This would explain the similarities
