Mazda CAI just installed

Does it take time for the ECU to recognize the intake and then power gains will be noticed?

Aside from the noise when the turbo spools, I don't notice much of a difference in power. (dunno)

(dance)i do not think that the ass dyno will feel any power gain from just a CAI

You should be able to feel it, close to 30whp? You'll feel it

I had a before and after dyno on mine. Bone stock she laid down 223hp to th wheels.

Added the AEM CAI and let two weeks of driving go by. 247hp was the end result. Absolutely noticeable.

After one year and a set of boost tubes and cat back she puts down 261hp to the wheels.

sure..... ..... i would have to see that

you dudes must have some super special CAI i have got to get me one (enguard)

just go put your car on a dyno. you don't have to believe me or see my time slips or my dyno graphs. $50-$60 and three pulls later you can see what your car puts downs. this is my third boosted car and I can tell you they respond 2x better than N/A ones to intake and exhaust mods. No doubt you know that though.

When test driving MS3's before I bought one I drive one with CAI and one without, one right after the other. I could easily tell the difference and each was the first turbo cars I had ever driven.

Look at corksports results on the other forum. Great gains on the CAI alone. Hell, I felt the difference on my SRI. Maybe your ass is not sensitive enough? You should look into getting it calibrated.

I gained 24 whp on the MSCAI over stock. Could feel an immediate difference from 2.8K-6K. The ECU should do a majority of its corrections after 1-2 WOT runs.

Definitely more power

Obviously took some mileage or wots to notice the difference.
Now the car pulls harder is even more fun.

I reset the ECU and it took about 100 miles before it really started to pull like a freight train. Just the CAI upgrade is VERY noticible on my car.

If you want more from the intake look at getting a turbo inlet pipe as well. There is more power to be had with your intake.

i no longer run a cai, inlet pipe ect, nothing at all. i just have mesh wire over the turbo it self with a cap to hold it on. I must say that i am sorry for saying that you will not feel any power gain from a cai i just did not think that he would (my mistake)sorry......

ok first of all, for having no intake whatsoever, you sir, are not the brightest bulb out there. Where do you plug in your MAF, or your vacuum hoses?

And for the non-beleivers..

(attn)there are ways around everthing all you have to be is a brighter bulb than the next man.... dont be that guy to talk smack just because no one has done it before.. just like everthing else that has been done in the name of hot- rodding.....one guy will find a new way make power with his car

Here's my dyno for anyone who's interested. Peak numbers aside, 10% is a pretty standard gain over stock with just an intake. The factory inlet is highly restrictive.

unfortunately, these cars aren't hot rods. It would be nice to be able to choose from infinite heads, intake manifolds, headers, everything... but they are electronically controlled vehicles, thus more sensitive. Why do you think they blow if you jack up boost pressure?
