are there any mazda techs on this board? i was thinkin to myself..since the svt contour guys...use the duratec 3.0 block with the svt head...i was wondering what the gain would be..if i put a svt head on my block....or would it be better just to port and polish the stock head.

2.5 svt is 200 hp
3.0 mazda 6 motor is 220 hp..with variable valve timing.

any thoughts?

are you sure that the heads are even interchangable?

i know the controur svt guys use the duratec 3.0 block..for more displacement....i'm a honda guy...like the concept of ls-vtec or b20-vtec....a 3.0 with a nice head...

i don't know the diffrence between the mazda head...over the stock tarus. but it has variable valve timing...my guess diffrent cams and valvetrain then a tarus.

it's just a thought. maybe someone who works with ford..or a vast experience/knowledge can answer this question.

Witht he engineering that went into the variable timing on the head i would change it the heads that are on the V6 6's are brand new designs the blocks aren't but the heads are i would assume that the new head produces as much power if not more than teh SVT heads....just get a good port and polish and you will be better i'm sure.

Yeah, Mazda designed the heads from scratch for the six cylinder in the Mazda six. Nothing in common in with anything in the Ford parts bin.
