I recently picked up an intake manifold from carparts.com for a 2000 Mazda 626. It was $60 shipped. It seems to look EXACTLY like the $545 ********** Intake Manifold.

I know that there has been a lot of controversy about whether or not this should even be discussed, since ********** is supporting the protege community by providing parts. I agree that we need parts, but charging 400% more than what the parts can be attained for isn't supporting the Protege community, it's ripping us off.

Here are some pics of a 2000 626 Manifold along with the ********** Manifold (picture from **********'s website).

Decide for yourself.

I forgot to mention...this one also came with a throttle body, fuel rail, injectors, EGR valve, misc. solenoids and tubing.

who said the pic in **********'s web page is the exact product?
If he didn't have them yet and had them on his web site, then where did the pic come from?
Why don't we all wait for people to get their intake manifold's from Cullen and take pics, then compare.
btw - did u try to see if this will fit on your car?

I would hope that we would have mentioned that the picture he posted wasn't the actual product. That would have saved us all from all of this discussion.

As far as fitment, based on my initial impressions, there is no reason that this won't fit. It will be going into the car on Saturday and I will let you know if we run into any problems.

You'll blow your motor up! (Quoted from someone in another thread about running a 626 manifold) LOL What a bunch of BS

The only information that I want is the reason that a consumer should pay $545 for the ********** Manifold instead of $45 for 626 Manifold. If there are differences, then the ********** manifold may be worth the money, but if not, why pay $500 more for the EXACT same thing?

And remember, the ********** manifold does NOT come ported and polished. That costs extra and is pretty simple to do on your own.

wow!!!!..similar but the Street Unit's Intake might be the same because it has to fit a variety of protege's that run the FS engine(MSP,MP3,P5) especially with clearance..but it might be ported for better flow along with some added things done to get the performance out of it....also that pic might just be that...a pic..

well...get a dyno run done as your car is and then slap that beauty on and see the comparison....I think that would be the only way to know more......they did do a dyno run with there intake didn't they????? good fine though

look at the manifolds. they appear to be the same, but on the street unit, there is roughly an 1/8th inch of material less on the inside of the runner than on the 626 mani. other than that tho, they appear to be the same

i told everyone but nooooooooo. I was just vendor bashing

people deserve to know the truth.

I appreciate you guys keeping this thread civil. I will keep everyone updated with the install.

Supa Saiyan pr5, ********** said that his manifold was not ported at all, unless you pay extra. If the porting was beneficial and his manifold was custom cast (as claimed) then why wouldn't they just use a bigger inner diameter runner to begin with? So to answer your question (to the best of my knowledge so far), there is no difference internally between the manifolds.

is the ecu gonna throw anything off due to the original manifold usings the VICS. would one figure that an aftermarket pcm should/recommended be used?

Where are you looking at that... the pics are actually kinda difficult to compare due to the gasket on the 626 one, but the internal dia looks identical to me.
