i just hit 45000 miles in my '06 mazda 6, and the scheduled service is like at that mileage. but i called the dealer and they said it would be $341. theres no way i can afford that right now, maybe after i have a couple paychecks, would it cause a problem if i waited a little?

It shouldn't be a problem if you wait a month or so. There are some things that they should not need to do but will try to charge you for. First, you need to find out what the 45,000 mile service consists of (it should be in your manual). Second, you should knock out the things you can do on your own yourself. After you chip away at that list, there may not be much else to do other than change the oil and rotate the tires.

Do some of the easy stuff yourself and save a bit of money! You can also take it to a service shop (non-dealer) and probably get the work done much cheaper.

ok thanks im going back to college in a couple weeks maybe i can find a better dealership there i think the one i go to now is a rip off

There's a member here named Super Shredder in New Jersey. I know he's in pretty tight with a dealership up there. You might seek him out for advice on where he goes.

that is a rip...have you seen whats included yet? basically an oil change, some grease on your door hinges, a tire rotation, and s*** they are supposed to check every oil change anyways.

1.Drain replace engine oil 2.Replace oil filter 3.Replace air filter 4.Inspect all drive belts 5.Inspect engine idle speed 6. Check and adjust engine timing 7.Inspect all hoses 8.Inspect all fluid levels 9.Check all brakes 10.Lube all doors, locks and hood latches 11.Check all safty features lights indicators 12.Rotate tires 13.Inspect battery clean terminals 14.Computer check all functions 15.Check and adjust tire pressure 16.Inspect tires for wear 17.Inspect exhaust system 18.Check A/C system 19.Quality road test

so its mostly all inspections.. hmm so i guess its not as bad to wait then

Not to mention that you can do these inspections yourself! You can save money and learn more about your car. It's a no-lose!

My guy is in Hammonton. Private shop. Most of the list you see below was done by this guy. Plus my last car, and just about every other car I've ever owned.
