Did the clutch have a really foul smell??

If that is true mine has been doing that alot lately.. any tips out how to fix or get it checked? Thank you in advance.

Juan, nice job...BTW, what have you been running with your 2.0L kit?

Damn that's sweeet. I wonder what Mazda will do when then come out with the Mazdaspeed 3. Hmmm...

probably **** it up, but we can hope and pray they dont!! lol. nice numbers, btw.
All I care is that they put the AWD drivetrain in there. We can already see that the 2.3 has excellent potential. And the 2.3DI will have even more potential than this. So I just hope they put the AWD drivetrain in there to handle the power potential.

i dont think they are going with the awd set up because when i was at sema talking to one of the reps of mazdaspeed that is one of the questions i had asked him and he said no because they are trying to keep the cost down.. but who knows he might have just be lying or not even known what i was talking about.

Yeah, I've talked to reps at the Detroit Auto Show before that have no clue what they are talking about.

Good News

That is awesome news! That is very impressive on stock internals! Man that is exciting and I can not wait to see more of it. And perhaps a video? He He He

Excellent, Juan, good to see more progress of this type. Is the installation of the Haltech similar to the proteges? or is the 3 a completely different setup?

Well it is a matter of experience and testing. All tracks are different, all cars are different and the best is to practice. My best on street tires has been 13.7, but I have to be very easy on the throttle on first and second gear. I launch at around 5500 RPMs.

The 5500 is with the slicks I presume. I cant see any traction happening with street tires or dr's. Supprized the axles are holding up at such a high launch and instant grip.

wow. thats very impressive. whats the dyno say on that car?

Last I heard, he was over 300hp to the wheels.

4000....... + another $x for atx upgrades

i better start saving now, but by the time i have the $ the 'speed3 will be out and i'll just end up trading in

if you compare the stock speeds to the hiboost protege's you'd rethink saying that...

We raced our Mazda3 last saturday again and it seems to get better and better. The car hit an amazing 12.7 at 116 MPH at 14 psi of boost.

Still has stock clutch, stock engine and transmission. I did it on race slicks, and rear skinnies, but everything else on its place. All seats and even the floor mats were left in the car.

I started doing 13.7 but the track kept getting better and better and since I do not have a LSD I was spinning all first and half of second gear. Then a 13.4, 13.0, 3 times 12.8 and the best 12.7 at the end of the night.

I did a 1.8 0 to 60. The car felt perfect however at the end I was smelling a little of clutch bieng burned thru the track. I shifted at the redline always to avoid a clutch failure, but i do need a better unit to install the big boost kit.

Juan
