2004 mazda 3 GT GFX, manual
My Mazda dealership is really starting to piss me off....first I had a terrible experiece with the GM there and ended up having the owner of the dealership give me $100 gift certificate for dinner. Now I take my 3 in for its first oil change and mention the 10-15 rock chips on my hood and comment that the paint doesnt seem to be holding up to well as I do no gravel rd driving...he states that the paint is very strong actually(bulls***)....so then I ask why I didnt get any touch up paint when I got my car,,,he stated that Mazda doesnt do this(anyone else here this) but he says he will touch up the rock chips while its there....so I go to pick up the car and he touched up the rock chips and then
charged me $5 for the bottle of touch up paint...and he also put the 2.3 badges on the car....1) didnt ask for them to be put on 2) they charge me $5 for each of them...I know that these are small amounts but cmon..it was my understanding that these 2.3 badges were supposed to come with the car..and the other thing is what if I didnt want them...JUST needed to vent....

Sorry man...

That sucks. I would express your feeling re: the service to mazdausa and see what they say and look around for another dealer.. Hope your day gets better. If it's any condolance, I have been waiting for the 2.3 badges for 3 months and they tell me "can't say when they will be in." Good luck.

I'm from Edmonton as well. Which dealership did you buy your 3 from? I had some bulls*** service from Weber Mazda, so I bought mine from Sundance.

Here's a link to my story about my experiences at both dealerships.

yeah I actually read your post earlier..and the funny thing is I had terrible service at Sundance mazda ended up getting my deposti back and going to park mazda where the sales experience was fantastic but everything since then has been not good....question when did you order your car and did you have to wait long..because you have the same car that I ordered in January and was waiting for when i got my deposit back and went with silver instead...

I ordered my car in the middle of May, and picked it up on May 26. They had to grab it from the port in Vancouver or something.

Might've been the 3 that you ordered, who knows? Hehe... maybe I should be thanking you for my short wait?

:)

I think it probably was mine..because when i ordered it...it was the only one coming in anytome soon......and i had waited 3 months when i finally told them where to go..
LOL

That's a little weird with the badges...

From what I know, Mazda sends out the touch-up paint with the welcome kit as it were. My co-worker got his in the mail soon after purchase. I went in to get a bottle from the stealer and they told me they'd sell me one, but advised me to wait for that.

Don't know what you expected them to say about the quality of the paint, nor what you expected from it. But kind of stingy of them to charge $5 for the touch-up paint :(

Yeah, I got a welcome package in the shape of a steering wheel, had touch up paint in it. Dealer gave me some as well..

Ditto.

I see the last few posts are from folks in the US. MazdaUSA 'generally' sends free touch-up paint in their welcome packages. I quote generally because it's not 100%, but they try their best to give them to everyone.

In Canada, Mazda Canada's welcome package does not have a bottle of touch-up paint. All Mazda Canada sends is this 'sticky' pad (probably static charged or something). You place the pad on the dash, and then anything you place on top of the pad, such as a cell phone or a few coins, won't move or fall down (even when cornering).

What I did was I mentioned touch-up paint while going through the accessories negotiations and my dealer just gave it to me for free.

No welcome here

I haven't recieved jack squat and I'm in the states. (uhm) We';; just have to call the dealer...

Don't remember which review it was, but when I was reading reviews of the 3 before ordering it, I remember one specifically stating paint adherence as a major weakness of the 3...

BTW my 3 got to the port today!!! I still have to wait about 10 business days before it actually gets to me :( but hey, at least I now have hope!

You are not suppose to pay a dime for the badges, they are free, installation for the badges is free as well, he has no right to make an extra profit on the badges.

These "2.3" badges, was it part of the car when the Mazda 3 came out? Or did dealership start putting them on the car later in the year? I've noticed that some Mazda 3 (2.3 litre) doesn't have the "2.3" badge.

it came out a lil later, It's s ort of a recall, because they made the badges after they shipped out the cars.

Hehe, exactly the same as you, silver GT with GFX. I added the rear lip spoiler too. My rental car right now is a base 3 with commodity package, so I'm already in love with the car, just can't wait to get the bigger engine and a manual trans, that's when the real fun will begin!

I'm assuming current Mazda 3 (2.3) badging is done at the factory and not at a dealership?

Mine didn't come with the 2.3 badges but Mazda sent them to me for free. I'm still trying to decide if I want them on the doors. I'll make up my mind when my Axela badge arrives from Corksport.
