Maxx Mazda's 2011 Build Thread

sorry to hear about your box.

stupid g-series boxes... you would thing mazda would learn from the early 90 when they introduced g-series box released in 323 BG and Ford Escort/Laser KF/KH.

Need a toyota gearbox :)

If you remember that the Trans was designed to hold 100 HP... and this was like near or over 300... Then it's a bit Daffy to think that it should just... "Take It" and work forever...

PAR or Boost Down..

It's not stupid Mazda at all. They designed a very durable transmission for it's intended use in a 100HP car. Now try channeling 4-5 times that through the gearbox and see how long it will last.

Haha you must have posted that while I was writing mine.

Boost down? Nah!

Maxx, what trans temps have you seen in average ? does it go high on cruise to have a gauge up for it ?

BTW, any hint on upcoming trans work would be beneficial to others ... i'm looking to work on mine as well and looking forward for some better solutions.

I will fill everyone in once the new year hits. Cruise after about 2 hours never peaks above 180*F

Still curious, was a hard shift or just a normal boost-up cruising to 18psi?.

I mean like you are just cruising around in 1-2-3, then you just wanted lot of boost in that gear.

1st and 2nd were "gentle" and when I hit 3rd, I decided to wind it out.

The brass part is called the blocking ring. It speeds or slows down the speed gear you've selected before it locks onto the output shaft. Stops gear clash.

Moving next week to a place with a bigger garage, in a few weeks I'll pull the car out of storage and get it over there to start tearing into the transmission.
