2002 Mazda pro5
I thought I'd start a build thread for myself and anyone that may want to follow. My names Matt, I'm from Manitoba Canada and I own a 2002 Mazda protege 5 wagen. I've really grown to my car and being my first Mazda I'm pretty impressed with it. I've been doing alot of reading and searching on Mazda 247 getting new ideas with my build. I plan on losing the wings west front bumper going with a stock bumper and a lip kit, change up my exhaust to something a little different, lower the car on springs or coilovers, and maybe try a mild engine bay tuck. Looking forward to any advice and knowledge given, thanks! I will definitely post before and after pics and pics of my bulbils process as I go

Well I recently tinted my taillights, added a couple new decals and i ended up getting a sick deal and traded my wings west front bumper for a ED B2 bumper. I'm slowly cleaning up my engine bay but it will always be a work in progress. I have many plans for this winter, only another month to go then ill be parking the car before the white stuff gets here and get ready for 2013.
I like how my car is turning out, i will lower it first thing in the spring either with springs or coilovers

any plans on painting that front bumper? should look nice

clean engine bay btw (2thumbs)

Ya I plan on painting yellow to match but I gotta make it fit a little better and I'm going to prep for paint. Engine bay is a work in progress definitely I plan on cleaning up the intake manifold and ripping the a/c out next.

I don't know why - but I'm digging the unpainted look. I know it doesn't make sense - but the satin black plastic on both the front bumper and hood work for me for some reason.

Look great man! Keep the updates coming!

Thanks! I've had a lot of ppl make that comment saying it goes good with my cf hood haha but it will eventually eat painted to match. I really dig the b2 bumper totally suites my car.

I have a huge list of plans to accomplish and decisions to make before next summer. I attend all the local car shows in my area. This past few months has definitely been a blast

I've had flat black, satin black cars in the past, I've always been a fan of the yellow, I had a 98 vw ginster gti and now the mazda pro5. I love my carbon fibre hood the bumper will cost me next to nothing I paint, I'm going with the black and yellow theme. Over the winter I plan to finish my engine bay tuck to how I want to see it and come spring ill pick up megan racing coilovers. I want to slam my car and drive the 2.sl0w not as a race car but as a cruiser. Stay tuned for lots of updates and pics.

I too am from Canada! Out in BC. My 2003 P5 is already slammed with cold air intake and a wicked catback exhaust system. Pic to come. This is my first Mazda at 40+ yrs old and its cool! Lol

Looking forward to pics :) nice to see more p5 owners in Canada!

I plan to do a N/A build get what I can out of my 2.0 motor first before having to forced induction. I have a couple questions regarding the coolant bypass delete from the throttle body? And is here a egr delete for my 2.0? Will it affect the way it runs and drives if i try?

I've had a eBay cold air on my 02 pro5 2.0 for a few months now and what I've notice and wondering if there is something wrong or if its the way it is suppose to be....you know how you should be able to hear your intake open up and suck when you rev or accelerate? It's seems quiet don't hear much sucking going on

I Had a rough idle and when I disengaged the clutch or came to stop it would stall out at random times. I pulled the egr valve out and cleaned it up. Since i had everything pulled out I changed my ground cable going from the engine to the battery with 0 gauge haha and relocated my diagnostics plug behind the battery.

I'm going to look at getting aftermarket battery terminals with more ports just to clean up the look.

We also got some light snow yesterday but it didn't stick around log enough to cause any issues. So my car will be getting parked for the winter in a couple weeks. My build thread may slow down a bit but ill always be looking for new ideas and help on the forums. Ill post new parts i buy as well

Here is a pic of the HID's and a pic of the box of brackets and parts I've pulled for the tuck and some weight reduction. Not going too crazy with weight reduction.

I'm trying to find the right belt for my a/c delete, I'm gonna rip it all out and leave the fire wall quick connects alone and open. If I can find plugs ill plug it but at the moment no luck. I hope to loose 20-25 lbs from all the s*** in there for a/c....Maybe these may work?

Your little air filter on your valve cover...get the tube and hook it back up between the intake and VC. I did your set up for like a day with the little air filter and had the rough idle.

I put the hose back on from the crank case to the intake pipe and ive been driving it for a couple days to see if I've noticed a difference and its still a little rough, Almost has a shake like the a/c is on but isnt...Can the IAC be cleaned like the EGR? Not sure both coil packs have been replaced, all plug, vacuum lines have been inspected and replaced, not sure? It's not too bad where it won't bug me but just thought I could eventually figure it out.
