MAM Thumper Dragstrip Video

The guy that kept Beau from doing a 5th run said that the P5's exhaust was too loud. Sounds shady to me....

Probably a bunch of hillbillies not wanting this happy meal toy to beat all the muscle cars.

Awesome vid...Loved watching a variety of track monsters getting their ass handed to them by an out of production Mazda wagon...;)

Where are the 11's guys!?!?!? :p

i bet if beau runs around the block every morning, i bet in a few weeks u could see 11's ;)

LOL, he HAS been going to the gym more recently... Maybe he is having the same thoughts

You guys are brutal! A dude's gotta eat!

Yeah, I think the locals were not happy about getting their s*** ruined by Mazdas and Hondas. If it were an issue with cages or helmets, they damn sure should say so. "Too loud" was the reason. That's BS. In fact, I remember seeing a page on the track's website about safety requirements. I'm gonna check it out...

Damn, if driver weight is now the issue, put me in there, haha. I beat you all by 40lbs probably.:)

Not to bring anyone down. But I would like to know just how much money it took to get this car were it is. I'm guessing around 15-20k! Hell the turbo kit runs what 6k, built block, head, trans. WOW!!!

Ok man, I'll let someone else answer that question, but think about it. Fast civics are everywhere, fast evos are everywhere, fast subies are everywhere, fast srt-4 are everywhere. On the other hand how often do you find a fast P5???? Or a fast FS for that matter? It probably took alot of money, that's why alot of people dont go the fast protege route, but then again, it takes money to stand out and be unique.

i agree. i wish is wasnt as expensive to mod, but if i had the money-- i would do the same just to be different and to have people say -- wow :)

Is it really that much cheaper to mod a honda? I figure you're gonna need all the same stuff: turbo, IC, AEM (which is for hondas btw), rods, pistons, clutch, etc. Sounds like it would cost the same no matter which way you go. And yes, it cost me a lot, I wish I could drive it....

In the long run I would venture to say yes, it is cheaper to mod a Honda. It's all about volume. For every modded Protege, there's probably a 100 or more Civics and the aftermarket to support them.
Still can't beat being unique tho'. :)

Damn, the title of the thread had me fooled. FYI, "time attack" implies going around a road course as fast as possible. This is just drag racing.

Just got off the phone with Beau...

stock ignition
stock MSP tranny with welded LSD
lightweight flywheel
Spec clutch
MNH slicks on 15''x8.5'' truck rims
old 550cc injectors will be upgraded to 750cc.

MORE FUEL = MORE BOOST!!!(burnout)

What's the differences between a stock MSP tranny and a stock P5 tranny other than the LSD?
