Making Mazda 3 i 2.0 LOUDER?

yes, if you have a sedan you will need to have it extended, if you take it to a professional they'll know what that means.

I don't think you should be modding your car if you don't understand/know what it is you are doing to it. If I were you, I would research A LOT before buying anything for your car.

I appreciate your input, and I call this research.
and I agree with you, which is why I am not doing anything too crazy. the craziest thing I might do is this exhaust. I am not going to do the header/removal of resonators or cats...just too much for me.

and thank you for everyone's input.

heres what mine sounds like... i have a CAI, thunder catted header (hi flow cat), race pipe (secondary cat deleted with straight pipe), stock MS3 exhaust, kept both resonators and muffler

a few other things too but those wont really change the sound too much

that should give you an idea of what the car will sounds like with header, catback etc

okay. so I have two options that I am willing to do. I am not going to get a header or any intake right now.

I just purchased this magnaflow muffler (hope it fits on the car): http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123757498

so I can either put that on the stock exhaust, or I can get a pretty cheap stock MS3 exhaust.

which do you all think would sound better? think I should put the muffler on the MS3 exhaust? would it be worth it?

I don't want to purchase the MS3 exhaust and let this muffler rot if there won't really be a difference between that and this muffler on my stock exhaust

thanks again,
Mike

the ms3 catback is bigger and will flow better giving your more power... if all your looking for is sound (not really worried with the performance), just slap the magnaflow on your stock exhaust, if you still want deeper/louder you could always straight pipe the second cat. or at that point get an ms3 catback at that point

Hey what ever happened to the "Racingbeat" exhaust systems? I have one on my P5 and I love it... it's quite while cruising on the highway but really lets the motor scream when opened up.

Did they stop making those or something?

I know you just bought a muffler Mike, but I would highly recommend a Racingbeat system if they make one for your car.

nah. I don't want to spend that much money. my only three options I am considering are:
1) welding this magnaflow onto my stock exhaust
2) buying the MS3 exhaust (only because it is cheap and local) and letting that go stock
3) buying the MS3 exhaust and throwing this magnaflow onto it.

please tell me what you all suggest.

thanks

I know RB makes an exhaust for the speed3, but as far as it fitting a NA 3 w/o modification, probably not. I imagine it would need modification to fit a sedan just like the stock MS3 exhaust would. which if your gonna spend over 500 on a catback, you really shouldnt hack it up to fit a car it wasnt made for...

i have not heard of RB making an exhaust for the NA sedan.

the only "hacking" needed done to fit on any exhaust made for a hacth/speed onto a sedan is to extend the tip about 2" everything else fits fine...

i think the ms3 exhoust sounds fine the way it is, if you dont like the sound of that, you can always throw the magnaflow onto it...

i'm sorry to be annoying and beat this topic into the ground, but do you think the MS3 exhaust will sound better than the magnaflow on my stock exhaust? and how much better? worth the money for the MS3 exaust and waste my money for the magnaflow?

thanks

put water in your exhaust(through muffler, at your own risk) it will make it louder for about 15 min.

bump?
