Ok...I have wanted to do this for a while now and I have recently got my hands on another stock hood to use for the project.

What I want is ideas on styles...different types and photoshops of different styles on a spicy MSP...Or any protege for that matter.
I have thought of doing a couple of different style hoods.I have thought of doing a 2'' cowl hood,a firebird style twin ram air,and also a WRX style hood.I am not locked into doing a copy of any hood..I am open to custom vents and ideas as I will be doing this myself ...From start to finish for the most part. All fab, form and molding will be done by myself.Mainly a good bit of photoshop help and links to any and all kinds of custom vents would be appreciated. This is basically your chance to express what you would like to see on your protege and if your idea is good, then it might become a reality on at least one protege.

I have a couple of other ideas in mind that I will keep to myself for now.
I am looking to at least make this hood functional to the point of at minimum, extracting the underhood heat via the venting it will receive.

Lets hear your ideas....and remember...be creative but try to keep it realistic!(nana)

Just do a true ram air. Done. Functional and eye-turning at the same time.

C'mon photo shoppers and custom builders..Lay out the ideas for these guys to photoshop.

maybe a small scoop in the front, and some sorta vent towards the back of the hood.........or my fav, the reverse vent hood by gemini mmmmmmmmm

But that defeats the purpose....I want a hood that NO ONE makes for a protege...And I will have it...I think I know what i am gonna make...Just gotta make some calls first.

It would be nice if someone could photoshop a classic Kaminari style hood scoop onto a protege.

The hoods can be found here and are very similar in style to the camaro SS hoods,

make one with vents on the side, similar to the lemans corvette

CorvetteC6R-1.jpg

similar to what that hawaiian guy with the midnight blue p5 had (except his vents were in the middle portion and much larger)

Am I the only person who thinks that those hoods wouldnt look right on a protege?

they would all look bad... i think you should make one that acts as a small air scoop bay angling the hood a little higher inthe back and shortin it up front. Allow more airflow through and then out the back.

Just put one small ram air port in it like the DGM. Done. Looks better than all of those.

Do a dual slim reverse vent near the rear and a ram air style intake duct somewhere near the front. make sure the vents are all very slim...and the ram air one should be no more than a few inches from front to back, and not too wide, but wide enough. Don't have it a complete ram air as you don't want to limit the intake.

Now you are thinking like me...I considered getting a stock 99-00 Mustang GT hood and cutting out the lowered vent section and welding and molding it in to the protege hood.I also was considering cutting in a custom vent ,very slim ,out of the rear to do just this with the venting. It would look good and be hella functional for reducing underhood temps.

This is the styleMstang hood I am referring to...With the drop ram air style.I know its not a functional hood on the stang but I could easily make it a functional heat removing hood with some modding..

i personally like the 02 model sti style scoop, a company made them for the pro, but since went out of buisiness, let me dig up a pictures..
