Magnaflow

Anyone have any knowledge about Magnaflow? I have been offered a pretty good deal on a Magnaflow exhaust system and was wondering what you guys thought of this product. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From my experience they are not as popular in the import scene as they are domestics,ie. Mustangs, Camaros, and the like. I haven't heard anything about their 4cyl systems, but based on larger engines, it's worth a go if you can get a good deal. Check the tubing sizes and compare them to other brands as well as what alloys they use.

I found a sound clip from their website...not too shabby!!

Got their dyno sheet as well!

I've had MF on several vehicles but they were V8s and V6s. The V8s sounded awesome. The 6 sounded tinny...

It all depends across the board. I've heard some that sound great. I've heard some the deserve the name Magnablow. But as with most exhausts, its on a case by case basis. Check out the sound clips for the most part.

Yeah, I'm getting fed up with all the choices I have. I don't mind spending the extra money to get something that I will like. Magnaflow is a nice cheap option, but as you guys have said, besides a few testimonials i have read I think of them as more of a muscle car, truck exhaust. Sigh...decisions decisions....

I have Magnaflow on the V6 eclipse and it sounds great.

I also have Magnaflow race muffler on my 4cyc conquest turbo and I love the way it sounds, and they are very commen in the 3G eclipse, and Starquest cars. I would never say they are cheap. Just not over priced like the rest of them...

Both cars have no cats, and are 3" all the way back.

I have a magnaflow on my MSP (dp into a catless pipe to a MF catback)
I love the sound. My brother has a magnaflow on his WRX also and it sounds great. It is true that they are more popular in muscle cars, but honestly I would not buy any other brand after owning magnaflow.

The quality of the product is great, the sound is not fart can like, and they do not make a ricey looking trash can tip. My 4 inch rolled tip looks much more classy that the ol' fart can.

Plus keep in mind how long they have been around and how extensively they test their products. That and they have dyno sheets of all their exhausts so you know what you are buying.

I wont ever go with another brand again. There might be systems that out perform them, but I know that their stuff will last for the life of the car because of the nice thick stainless steel they use.

The only reason the Magnaflow/Borla/Flowmasters are most popular on Pony cars (there is no such thing as a muscle car any more. The GTO was a "also ran and close", but I would digress from calling a Mustang/FBody a muscle car) is because that is where they all got started. You don't see many HKS/GReddy/Apexi products for Trans Ams out there, do ya?

Honestly, check the sound clip, and thats what you should go on. For this thread's sake, all exhausts are going to offer around the same gains. If you like the sound, go with it. Thats the key. Go with what you like, not with what you think everyone else likes. I have heard stories, but in person I have never heard a bad sounding Magnaflow system, and that includes imports/sport compacts in the list as well as V8s.

What, you mean the Borla and Corsa systems? Didn't you know? They are not made of stainless steel, but platinum with titanium hangers, and precision cut with lasers the military doesn't even have yet. The mufflers are made out of vandanium and hand polished by crazed Italians, and then packaged up and blessed by the Pope. After that, they are shipped in a gold leaf box trimmed with precious jewels, and they don't use packaging peanuts, they use blood diamonds.

At least thats always what I thought. The price has to come from somewhere.

I see you're still on your quest for the great exhaust upgrade!

good on ya, I'm glad everyone is pitching in their opinions and knowledge on helping you choose.

In the end, it is totally up to you on what you want really. Just so as long as you're happy, you'll be set.

Best exhaust for the money, they use top notch materials and dont charge out the ass, and they have the money and experience for testing and R&D before they release somthing. The sound is always more mellow and deeper than any other exhaust which is very important to me. if they make a cat back for our cars one day i will buy it over any other unless im going all out race and need somthing larger.

I put some magnapacks on my brothers Mach1 and it sounds great.I liked the magnapack better then the magnaflow for his car.

Hey thanks for all the replies guys. You guys have really helped me with my decision. I am going with the Magnaflow. It is cheaper in price than anything else I have looked at with a lifetime warranty. Getting installed on Monday, I'll let you guys know how it turned out! (mj)

MAKE SURE TO GET BEFORE AND AFTER PICS!!!!

I know, it's just an "exhaust" but still...lol

Well there has to be a reason why Suburu's race team strictly uses Magnaflow. Ive been the testbed for MF on several vehicles at their R&D center. They developed a high flow cat for the subbie guys that doesnt melt under high boost applications. Really cool stuff up there. If you get a chance to goto their R&D Headquarters here in SOcal, i highly recommend it. 2 Inhouse chassis dyno's, jigs, lifts, etc. They were still developing the catback on the MS3 when i wanted mine.

I had a magnaflow with my old corolla xrs. Loved it, no obnoxiously large tailpipe, and the sound was pretty mean but not annoying. I'd reccomend them again.

Dude I was crying I was laughting so hard.

My conquest has the double roled tailpipe. Love it.

The 3G evlipse has the single wall. Nice but dosn't look as good.

Both are race pipes and they sound good. get a little rasp in the 3G but it is NA so I expected that.
