Ok guys, I installed the Magnaflow 3" catback on Monday. I know all the dyno comparisons say there is no significant gains. But my first impressions are that this thing really rocks! I was not that impressed the the CAI and BPV gains, but it seems now that I put on the catback, my car has picked up a ton of torque. I just wanted to see if I was on my own here, or if you guys agree. Maybe the "ass dyno" just needs re-calibrated again................

its possible..

the only way to tell is to have an actual before and after dyno comparison.

LOL... I was just going to say, can you hear it more now than before and maybe you are driving it a step harder or a bit differently to hear it and you are noticing more power? I had great gains with the CAI and am ordering my BPV this week.

I will be logging some comparison times via pocketdyno on Monday, I did pick up quite a bit with the CAI and BPV over stock, ass dyno didn't feel that much, it will be interesting to see if the CBE helped.................and are all you guys Magnaflow owners?

proven, many times, with dyno's, datalogs, and butt dyno's. CBE = only 5 to 10 whp at the most. not too noticeable on a car with alot of power in my opinion your butt dyno is stoked and the different sound from your exhaust makes you think it's faster as well. sorry to burst your bubble but put on a DP for that amount of money and then you will feel true gains.

After I installed my CAI my car felt slower (perhaps because it really smoothed out the powerband). When I have time im going to replace the stock one to see the difference. I looked at it so many times to make sure everything with the CAI was sealed properly.

Back to topic I felt a SLIGHT increase of power with the new exhaust particularly down low in the rpm range. Mine is GHL but it really doesnt make a difference, just sound.

No exhaust here. I am about to finance another Mazda and was going to have the MSCBE added to the financing just to have it. I have a CAI, SS w/bushings and a MM. Ordering a BPV this week (leening towards the Turboxs).

I have been thinking about the mscbe myself. It sounds just a touch louder, but really nice. Either that or maybe swap out a resonator or muffler or something........

No bubble bursting here, data log will confirm or stamp out any false feelings, what amount of money? I am an exhaust dealer, my cost on the system was pretty cheap(2thumbs)

....so are there any Magnaflow owners responding, or is everyone just flippin me s*** because I have 1...........

Not flipping an s***, I am interested in all the CBE's available for our cars. Just sorry the gains arent as good as NA cars for the $$. If you are an exhaust dealer what can you hook me up for on a CBE?

I am an exhaust dealer and my cost is 3 and some change.....N/A cars? I put a Magnaflow CBE on an SRT8 6.1l and I think the danged thing got slower........I think it really depends on the app, N/A or not........can't wait to do my test run on Monday..............

I could see the cbe giving alittle more torque. I know for my quad replacing from my race pipe back gave me some torque. Even when I replaced my mufflers on my truck I had more torque

I don't have a MagnaFlo; but I do have the MSCBE... it did feel different however I haven't been able to dyno it since... I will get on that when I get home though!

I could see an increase in 1-5whp with a CBE... replacing the DP and perhaps the 2nd cat will net you big gains...

hey qluber i know this is an old thread but good to see you over on this forum as well. i ended up going with the magnaflow cause i found it for $370 shipped at performancepeddler.com and just installed it this past weekend. i can't say about the added power but the tone is definitely a lot nicer than stock. if you replace the dp in combo with the cbe and intake you will see a huge bump in power. you already swapped out the rp right?

The quoted post was back in October. Haven't heard from the OP since. Although I'm a Magnaflow fan (excellent quality and design) and have seen their systems produce nice gains in certain applications, I'm skeptical that there would be any significant gain. Our stock CBE flows very freely up to a bit beyond 300 whp. The restriction is upstream with the stock DP and those two cats.

So, thanks for bumping the thread. I hope the OP will give us the objective numbers on whether he realized any gain. The best cheap way to compare the effects of mods is to get a $20 stopwatch and time 30-100 mph WOT runs to 5,500 rpm. Starting at 30 mph eliminates all the variables with traction and launch technique, and is highly repeatable under the same weather conditions. Maybe not as good as a dyno, but very easy and cheap. You don't get hp or torque numbers, but you can tell if you are going in the right direction with the mods.
