Magnaflow exhuast

Okay. The stock pipes are 2.25". The flanges at the stock cat pipe and exhaust are 2.25". Now, if you purchase an exhaust that bolts directly to the stock pipe, it's going to be 2.25". If you purchase a 3" exhaust (which is probably what other places are selling), you have to also purchase a 3" downpipe to attach it to.

^^^^
i thought apex's 3" bolted straight up to the stock cat flange. in any case, my 3" exhaust was reduced to meet up with the stock piping just after the stock cat flange and was welded on.

vid 2 still hasn't cleared yet but the rest work. the sound turns from a low rumble to a loud growl pretty quick :) is it me or does the exhaust note have a slight rasp to it? sounds a bit loud from inside but nothing too annoying. how is it at hwy cruising speeds? maybe not quite as deep a sound as some others i've heard but it's definitely deep :)

overall, a good sound (thumb)

hmm so what diameter is the exhasut? also krillin, is it loud during normal drivin or just at WOT? did u feel any gains, i know its the butt dyno just asking?

during normal driving you get a nice mellow growl, which is nice. WOT at around 3k and up gets pretty loud; somewhat loud on the inside which isn't annoying, but from what i've been told it's hella loud from the outside. most of it has to do with the protosport downpipe that was installed. i dont remember what my car sounded like with the stock pipe. anyway, if i get my hands on a better camera i'll take more vids if ya guys want. oh, another thing: the car does seem to pull a lot harder especially top end. although i think i need to replace the filter on my intake. it was kinda squished.

.. I want one! I want one! I WANT ONE!

:D

So did anyone ever get in contact with .. anyone about a possible group buy? And did we ever figure out if the catback will hook up to stock pipes, or if a 3"downpipe is mandatory before being able to install the Magnaflow?

I was afraid I was gonna have to ditch buying the Magnaflow because I was in something of an 'accident' this morning -- and scratched up one of my rims pretty bad because of someone else's stupidity. Thought I was gonna have to spend the $$$ on a wheel instead of the exhaust, which would've REALLY pissed me off.

But then I remembered that winter's coming, and I have the steelies to put on until March -- and I can procrastinate buying a new rim until then!

if the piping for the magnaflow is indeed 2.25", which is what it sounds like, then it should bolt right up. even if it's 3", any exhaust shop can make it fit with ease in a few minutes. there's no need to purchase a 3" dp just to make it all fit.

so krillin or spicy, exactly what size is the magnaflow piping?? spicy, you said 2.5" right? i've read 2.25" elsewhere, but now i'm hearing 3". which is it? also, what material is the piping?

I called Magnaflow about 3 weeks ago and they said the MSP exhaust that they make is 2.25". SO I asked them what's the purpose of buying their exhaust? No answer.

Just a little advice on the Magnaflow pricing. Use their dealer locate and make some calls to local authorized dealers. I called one and the quoted me a price of $340 for the P5 system in comparison to the MSRP of $444.10 on the Magnaflow website.
