so today i was driving my msp down the street when all of sudden while in first gear i start to hear weird metal rattling noise! at first i thought my gear was grinding but as i accelerated the car would go nowhere! i tried every gear and no luck, even reverse! so i left it in neutral and backed it up to the curve, i tried going into first again and this time there was no noise it just reved and didnt move at all! my friend said it might be my clutch? all of the gears go in but theres no power going to the wheels. maybe the front axle snapped? im towing it over to the shop tomorrow morning, in case its either of those things anyone know where i can get a good but affordable LSD Mfactory style? should i got with exedy stage 1 clutch? and if its the transmission would it be safe to check out the junkyard for a used one? thanks guys hope you can help!

ya go look for a used msp tranny but i heard there hard to find. Dont let the shop trick you into doing a clutch thats what happend to me. Its forsure your diff. I think crossover sells them for a good price

So the mechanic called me back and said that the clutch is messed up, he will take the tranny out today and check if everything is good in there, im really hoping its really only my clutch! i have a question tho, when the mechanic takes a look at the LSD and everything looks good should i request for him to weld it? can someone show me an example of where exactly to weld it?

It sounds like the LSD to me, and not the clutch. I'd be surprised if it's the clutch causing that. You still might want to replace it while you're in there, depending on how many miles are on yours. I have the Exedy Stage 1 and love it. 100k miles on it now. I think I still have a pic of a welded diff... diff4.webpdiff1.webp

if it has cracks in it do not weld it. ask him to check everything out though before u put it back in

yeah not surprising i really doubt that its only the clutch! so its looking like exedy stage 1 and TIG welded lsd from SU.com.

so the dumb*** mechanic welded up the broken lsd and stuck it back in, test drove it and BOOM there it went again! now hes having me order a brand new one so i got the one from SU way to go mechanic thanks for making me wait another damn week!

Lol you can even put an open dif in your car. Its a much cheaper alternative and it wont snap in half.

that sound good, the welded lsd that i ordered from SU is not in stock so it will be a week before they get it in and another week for it to come in!!!! im going with the Mfactory, is the installation and everything the same as a factory welded one? or is there any modifications needed to be done?
