I noticed that on all the EBAY auctions for TEIN Springs, they list the part number the same for the Protege5, and the regular Protege Sedan. The spring rates are the same, but the drop nubmers F/R are different.

Are the springs interchangable between the two cars? I'm only asking because Eibach has different part numbers for the two cars, and different drop values as well.

It makes sense to me that manufacturer's have different P/N's, but not that Mazda changed the suspension between the P5 and the Sedan.

Will the Eibach springs for the Sedan work in the P5 and vice versa?

Thanks,

Ryan

Actually, from what I saw last night, Eibach has the same part number (Pro-Kit) for the sedan, and the P5. I saw this, because modacar.com has the Eibach Pro-Kit on clearance for $195.

From what I've

Researched, here is what I've got.

TEIN's homepage lists the Protege, and Protege5 lowering springs, and full coilover kits as the same Part Nubmer.

H&R's homepage list the Protege/MP3/Protege 5 as the same Part number for lowering springs.

Eibach's webpage lists a different Part Number for the Protege Sedan, and the Protege 5. 5540.140 for the sedan, 5541.140 for the P5.

I'm hoping TEIN and H&R are right, and Eibach just holds two different Part Numbers for internal reasons, but the springs are the same. The spring rates for all these springs are the same ( I mean Eibachs are the same for each model, H&R's are the same etc. )

All the websites list them as seperate cars 99-03 for Protege, 02-up for the P5, but the specs for spring rates and the Part Numbers are the same.

I just bought a set of Eibachs without thinking that are for the Protege, and are the 5540 P/N, but I"m hoping they are actually the right and identical springs to the proper P5 P/N.

Somebody know the answer?

But why are H&R and TEIN's the same springs, but Eibachs carry different P/N's? Are they different springs? The rates are the same.

But the spring rates for the TEIN's, H&R's and Eibachs ( Protege and P5 ) are the same for both??

I'm going to phone Eibach this afternoon to try and get the scoop. I just don't see how the TEIN's/H&R's can have the same spring rates, and Part No's, but the Eibachs are different. I'm really hoping the 5540's with work in my P5.

DOH!
