Can get BC coilovers for the cosmo off ebay, but wondered what options there are for the rear end, apart from cutting springs or getting new springs made. Looking for about 50mm drop. cheers.

Coil-overs are the best way to do this.

If you lower the vehicle you are also reducing the amount of usable space that you have for wide wheels. The factory springs get wider as they move to the top. If you go with coil-overs then you can lower the vehicle AND run much wider wheels.

The second issue with keeping the stock suspension and lowering is the rear end uses two sets of dampeners per side. If you lower the vehicle too much, you compress the secondary dampeners to the point where they have no rebound left in them. This can give you traction issues and tramping especially.

Thanks. Any suggestions on who makes them? I have only found cosmo front coilovers.
So by fitting coilovers at the rear, are you ditching the twin damper setup in place of a single coilover?
Looking to squeeze as much rubber at the back as i can so this sounds like the way to go.
Cheers

No need to ditch the 2nd damper unless u go stupidly low. the rear coilovers are fairly firm and u shouldnt bottom out the damper unless u get airborne lol
iv got my car 100mm from the lowest point (which when lowering the front, is the lower control arm mounting points) then adjusted the height at the rear untill it sat fairly close to level (if not slightly lower in the rear). havent had any dramas with the damper at all.

I got BC coilovers front and rear, so yes they do make them. Will drive like a brand new car with them. just make sure u set them up right, slightly preload the springs, and keep everything level.

Dom,, the BC items advertised on e-bay are a full set for the 650,, I am still tempted but I have to say the Mazdasped items I have are really good and handle well especially now with the strut brace fitted,, although it is a bit higher on the rear the stance it has at the moment has grown on me I quite like the front lower than the rear makes it look a little more aggressive ,, each to their own and I may change my mind at some point lol

Frank, thats a cracking deal on ebay then eh! I think i'll go for it. Thanks Rodneooo for the info.
