Low idle speed

I have a 2014 mazda 3.

The only thing that annoys me is when the car sometimes idles at 500 rpm.
I haven't understood the pattern yet, nor do I seem to be doing anything different.

So yes, sometimes the car idles at around 500 rpm, which is quite low for a 4 cylinder. And that makes the whole car vibrate at sickening wave pattern.

Has anyone else noticed their cars idling a bit low sometimes?

I've heard this is problem with a ton of 2014 Mazda 3s. They are having problems figuring it out why the cabin vibrates so much from the shaking from the low idle. Some believe it has to be a software problem. Good news is your not alone out there and others are having the same issue which means it will get Mazda's attention.

Bruns, is yours an I or S model? How many miles are on the odometer?

My S model does not have this issue. (2300 miles, currently, purchased a few months ago)

I actually have an Axela 4wd
It it the Mazda 3 here in Japan, and I got it with the optional 4wd.
So it has the 1.5 litre engine, 5000 klms and is about 5 months old,

Thank you Kevo89!!

I will let them know of it next time I take the car in for a service.
Before that I will unplug the battery for 30 mins and see if it resets it.

Keep in mind that your engine is very different in size from our 2.5 liter S-model engines.

Yes, unfortunately they do not offer the 4wd option with any other engine.
I really wanted the diesel, but where I live, 4wd is essential.
