Love this little guy, but need some help from the pros...

Thanks for the info bro, but I didn't know a DP would cause any smog issues on this car? Is that because it will replace a sensor or I'm assuming maybe a secondary cat? Not sure as I haven't really dug too deep into this thing yet. But I was thinking something less restrictive, and as long as I pass smog with it here in CA I'll be happy.

As for the BPV, how do these cars act when venting to atmosphere? Is the MAF forgiving or am I gonna lose too much air count and run into stalling and or running rich issues? Are you guys mostly running vented back in or one of those BPV's that have 50/50 setup? Thanks!

The downpipe would and should throw CELs due to there being a cat on the dp, so unfortunately thats what I have left on :( otherwise I am straight piped from the dp back and its pretty damn loud and sounds wicked!

But for the bov, I have the Greddy type-s, which is one of the legendary valves with the sexiest sound available, but i tried venting it a few times for the sweet sound but the car is prone to stalling and rough idle extreme rich between shifting and not responding properly with the valve vented. BUT even recirculated the type-s is still very loud if adjusted properly

So that's 3 people saying it's smooth like butta....and one person not feelin it. I'll have to give it a shot and see what it reads on my personal ASS-O-Meter.

Ohhh yeah....one thing I can't figure out. There was a youtube video of this one MS3 with a triple gauge pod in the middle of the dash....but the pod also had a hood over it, covering all the gauges (like on the new BMW 3 series or the stock gauge cluster on the MS3). Anyway...it looked H A R D, and I can't find it anywhere?? I found some similar ones but they were all for the STi. Has anybody seen this gauge pod or know who makes it?? I want one bad!! (boom01)

Ohh and if anybody wants to talk about BEEEWBS....go right ahead!! ;)

also on that note, someone in the markeplace section has one of those custom mounted, molded, and painted for $230 shipped its on the first page down a bit.

Right but that's why I as thinking of running the cp-e downpipe with a built in high flow cat. This way I'll get the HP gains, sound, and still be smog legal here in CA.
Also thanks for the heads-up on the gauge pod, but that's not the one I'm looking for. I'm looking for one that is almost like that, but with a "hood" over the gauges.....similar to the pics below, but made for our car and matching the stock gauge cluster hood shape.

those gauges with its built in visor's look pretty good! i wonder if you can just take gauge pod already made for our cars, and just mold in a visor? it'll take some work, but I'm sure it can be done...time and money is all it needs...lol

It's probably a lot easier to buy one of those STi gauge pods and mold it to our stock plastic vent trim cover. Then paint it, mass produce it....and I'll be the first to buy one! ;)

Common someone......DOOO EEETT!!!! (eekdance)

You need to be aware that the "downpipe" in question is longer than just a downpipe. It replaces everything from the output of the turbo to the end of the primary cat. There is no downpipe cat in the system, which is why the unit comes with special fittings for the O2 sensors to fool the emissions system. There is a high flow cat replacing the primary cat, but the cat in the downpipe is scrapped, which is the main reason those who can get these to run with no cels or other problems notice significant power gains.

No one seems to have come right out and said it, but based on some of your own comments, you won't be surprised that the general consensus is that this engine should be left recirculating, unless you have a custom tune carefully tailored for a full or partial bypass valve. I can't recommend a valve at this time because the one I'm running isn't available to the public yet. I'm helping test a modified Forge valve designed to eliminate that PING that so many of us find so annoying. So far it works very well, but there are some slight fitment issues being worked out.
