(this is gonna be a little long...)
So, I'm cruising home from work Sat. @ 11:15 on at the corner of a busy intersection in STL (Morganford & Gravois), and see a cop in the alley. Of course he pulls behind me as I'm stopped at the light waiting to make a right. I really wasn't concerned as I was stopping, so it couldn't have been speeding. I turn, blip, pulled over. "What kind of subs do you have?", 2 10's "Amp?, etc., blah blah." "I could here your bass @ 100 yards rattling my car." I couldn't believe what was going down. He goes on to say that the chief of police just put out a memo on loud stereos and mufflers and there are no warnings being given out. He goes back to his car to write me up. Now, it gets crazy...
A block up from us, on the same road, a car is waiting to make a left, and another car slams into it. I could hear and see the accident happening. I pointed at it to show the cop what had just happened, he keeps writing. It looks like the car that hit the other pulled off to the side. A guy comes running from that direction and I can here him tell the cop that the guy that hit the other car has fled the scene. I'm thinking I'm gonna get a break here, as the cop needs to pursue the hit & run suspect. Nah, he keeps writing my stereo ticket. A few minutes later, he comes up to me to give me the ticket and says, "Well, I can't do two things at once, now can I?" I wanted to knock this douche out. As if a car stereo ticket is more important than a ******* hit & run. I was pissed.
I'm 26 years old and have had loud stereos for 10 years now. Never had an issue before. I always keep it down in residential areas. I was listening to the Mars Volta at the time of this incident, not some heavy bass rap. I, myself, get pissed when I hear some kid's car stereo outside my house while I'm doing whatever, so I'm not the type that needs this sort of punishment because of some f-ing memo. He also kept my license...WTF!!? (moon)
Keep those stereos down in ST. Louis or they'll get your ass.
