Hey I have only had my Pr5 for about 6 months, a big change from all the v8's I've had in the past. On chilly mornings my pr5 seems to be a bit loud almost like a putting or knock. Is this normal or should I bring it in to the dealer??? (screwy)

on first startup you may hear a tick for a sec while oil gets circulating again and the car will be louder while the car is warming up or in closed loop (i think). It idles faster to help the car warm up. Doesnt do it on warm mornings as much cause the block is warm.

I dont remember that mine has ever knocked.... but if you aren't the first owner of the car, you dont know what the person before you did to the car. I'd run it by the dealer.. warranty means free right? :)

isn't knocking the sound of using cheaper gas? (shrug)

if it's under warranty, have the dealer check it out, but it sounds normal

don't really know what chilly is down in FL, but i doubt it should be making any real noticable noises? how many miles are on the car?

I think in general a 4 banger is not going to idle as quiet and smooth as a v6 or v8. Plus the valvetrains on these cars are quite noisey.

Well here in Tampa it was 39 this morning. It is under warranty but Im also the second owner. I know its not cheap gas my wallet can prove that, she only gets the good stuff. Right now I am at 42k miles but you'd never know without looking at the odometer. I guess she will be headed to the dealer, thanks for all the input

I am also considering exhaust mods any ideas that won't make it sound like tin can. I'd like something deep and smooth sounding that will give me a bit more hp
