LOTS of oil in the pressure pipes.

honestly, I think sadly, a turbo in need of a rebuild is your best case scenario right now, and from the sound of it, the most likely... it just gets worse from there....

if there is oil consumption it could be from the turbo seals or it could be from blow by, but it is definitely a factor to be noted here...however a lack of white smoke out the tailpipe really makes me lead to the turbo moreso than blow by

I still don't believe it is blow by that is causing this, though I could see the pcv having gone bad and attributing SOME to this...but it's still a massive amount of oil and much more than I've ever seen from pcv failure

I agree though, test it if you can...if you've got an air compressor, it can't hurt at all

sell with a turbolife, which may or may not be appreciated by the next owner!? NOOO throw the stocker back on and make some money back! lol

edit: how many miles on this car, and how hard do you drive it?

100km and i dont drive it hard at all. never raced. never let the tires break free with the exception of rain and winter haha. so like are u thinking the engine is about to go?? cuz i highly dought that... it runs completely fine and doesnt burn much oil at all. it just has a slow leak that somehow gets into the pressure pipes. if anything i would say worste case scenario is the turbo. the guy before my BABIED it. he garaged it in winters and lived out on a farm so he drove a different car to work everyday. he took it for a few road trips but thats it. so its not driven hard

no your engine is fine, I can pretty well gaurantee that as it doesn't suffer the symptoms of a motor that is going, it suffers the exact symptoms of a blowing turbo...your turbo is going

it's not expensive...you can get a used turbo on here for 500 usually and if you are mechanically inclined it's an easy replacement

and also i was just working on my car again and i checked the intake pipe (the old stock one) and there was a good sized pool of oil in the bottom of it. enough that i could tip it and have some poor out... so there is oil in the intake pipe so im starting to lean more towards the PCV then.

well as I said above, the PCV could be shot and attributing to the problem, but with the amount that is in there it doesn't appear to be just the pcv

ehh, I wouldn't take the oil cap off while it's running for long

a better test of that is to just unhook the hose from the valve cover (on the driver's side) to the intake...but not sure how that is really going to tell you very much, as the pcv could cause a little back pressure to the turbo but not enough to put that much oil in the intercooler piping

Why wouldn't you do this?

because running it with a direct opening to the cylinder head where the cams are spinning and oil is flying around is just going to make a mess and it's not going to tell you anything at all, it's pointless

Obviously you did not try this before you posted that. Oil and mess are not a issue. What it will tell you is: if there is an abnormal amount of crank case pressure. which can be caused by rings, or a cracked piston.

obviously you don't know me

YES I have tried this, and no it won't tell you jack s*** because at idle there is very minimal pressure in the crank case...if you are having that problem at idle you have much bigger things to worry about and you would notice smoke coming from the engine when it's under load

not to forget that you would probably also notice that you are burning copious amounts of oil at that

unless the engine is at an extreme you will not see any kind of smoke coming from the crankcase at idle with the oil cap opened up...now a compression test and a leak down test WILL give you much more insight into the engine and that is more recomended

but again, to see that much oil blowing out of the turbo is abnormal even with that much oil pressure coming back up against the turbo without the seals being shot in the turbo...I've seen SEVERAL blown turbos (multiple stock, and upgraded turbos) on this particular car, I've seen the PCV issue, I've seen low compression and leak down issues, I've seen blow by issues...all on THIS car and all on my own particular experiences

this most definitely is the seals on his turbo going out....the pcv could be shot and attributing as well, but replacing the pcv will not fix the issue

Well this thread is totally off track and has turned into a ***** per say. I am not disagreeing with the possibility's that you listed.

i'm not sure if you did try and rig up a 96 supra pcv valve but i just did it seems to work really nice. i've been havin about the same problems so far the smoke and oil have stopped. great idea thanks!!!!

this can be 1 of 2 things. first off, and the one you dont want, is the oil seals in your turbo could be bad which would mean you need a new turbo. secondly, a weak point on our cars in the pcv valve. it just cant handle boost and because of this when you boost you presurize the crank case threw it cause it cant close and that pushes vaporized oil out threw the big vacuum line from your valve cover to your intake. its then sucked in by the turbo and deposited in your charge pipes if it doesnt make it all the way through your engine. i had oil in my pipes so i upgraded to the millenia s pcv but it still cant hold up but no where near as much oil as you. i also have a bad wga so i havent been getting on my car in a long time so my oil is gone. this weekend im going to try and rig a 96 supra tt pcv valve on my car. if i were you id try that and see how it works out cause you dont want oil filling up your pretty new front mount. you could also put a breather filter on your valve cover but with a bad pcv youll have oil coming out of the filter and spraying your engine bay. BUT, if you get no more oil in your pipes than you know its not your turbo. can also try catch cans too.
