when i accelerate hard and i hit 4 to 5 rpm i feel a lost in boost or speed...the car feels like its not pushin hard..so is there any resolution to this..what can i do???

what do you mean?..i got the car just recently, about 2 or 3 weeks now...

go back to the dealer and tell them to hook up you ECU to one of their computers. this will tell them if it has been flashed.

a flash is an update to the Mazdaspeed Protege ECU software. it is designed to get rid of hesitiation that most people feel in the midrange of RPM.
if you car feels like it bucks, jerks, or hesitates, that means that u havent gotten th flash.
now, some people still experience the hesitation after the flash, but that is rare.

ok yeah i do feel a buck at 3 to 4 rpms...it feels like the turbo wanted to boost more then stops then goes again..my girl thought i was driving funny...let me have it checked....

cool
post here after u get it done
u'll be pleasantly surprised (i hope) :D

oh cool,
just read that u're from Cali

sweet! what color is your MSP?

Doesn't matter even if you get it flashed. It still pulls hard only to about 4500 then seems to lose power.

doesnt mean he shouldnt get it flashed

flashed vs. unflashed the car runs much better

mine pulls smooth throughout the RPM range.
and after i installed MBC it pulls even harder up top. if u ever driven a vtec Si, Integra, or Prelude it feels like that.

Mine was actually losing boost through the IC piping. I thought that maybe it was the stock BPV at first, but it was for sure the IC piping on mine.

If you still have problems after the flash, consider hooking up a boost gauge to check out if you are losing any boost.

NOoooOOOoOo Don't get the flash!! Just leave it as is. I'm trying to set something up with AEM currently on a Standalone system. Just because its a fuel problem... Doesn't mean you need to flash it!! Just wait if you want to be able to boost higher safely!

mborg1,

if u ever wish to go over 10psi then dont flash.

if u plan to stay arround 10psi, and dont want to spend $1000-$1400 on a standalone computer and void your worranty, then flash. it will give u better overall drivability.

u can also try Joe P's FPR (fuel pressure reducer) kit.
it did wonders on my first unflashed MSP. but it only seemed to help 50% of people.
FPR kit is good, but not as good as a flash (if u want to stay arround 10psi).

it all depends on what u plan to do with your car.

ION Performance did 201whp with 10psi, FMIC, and Downpipe.

Congratulation on the new MSP. I'm in Fremont. If you see an Yellow MSP, that's me :D

I've not flash since I am planning to mod my car. I will just wait for a little bit. Seems like some people are working on the e-manage system. I hope they will have some good news in the near future.

Beside, you will need to break in your car anyway. So why not just wait for a little before you get the flash.

Just my 2 cents.

ok..so bottom line is dont flash the car if i want to upgrade the car...but if i dnt want to void the warranty then flash...whats the BEST way to go..

Depends on what you want to do in the future. I really like how the car took the flash. I've added a few goodies and upped the boost to 10psi. I really like the way it runs now.

Maybe down the road I will get a bit wilder with the mods. If I do, I will get a device that will allow me to adjust not only fuel, but timing too. I'm thinking someone will have something good out by then.

flash = increased timing

increased timing + more than 10psi = blown motor, supposedly

I am running 10-12 with the flash, and no problems. Once I get an air/fuel controller, I will be able to go with a little more boost than that, but max on our cars with proper tuning and without race gas is about 14psi.
