5. what controles the boost levels if i don't have a bost controler..

6. is there anything else i should know/buy that i haven't mentioned

thanks guys!

please shrink your signature, as for your questions...i don't know the answers.

bandit...not a flame....but before you install everything...take a look at the stickies at the top of this forum and do some reading. It will serve you tremendously to understand all the elements of a turbo setup (including what controls boost).

1) Yes...visit spool's site
2) EGT and or A/F Gauge
3) 2 or 3 gauge piller pod....many options
4) talk to Terry at spool directly..he will help you

5+6) covered up top.

1. yes, check his site.. i think it is 900
2. air fuel
3. pillar pod, steering pod
4. not that i know of... the stage 1 looks real simple.
5. It looks like you have a external wastegate. I think that is the deltagate under the fittings.
6. you will need to go to an exhaust shop to get your downpipe welded into the exhaust.. might wanna have them put you dumptube from the wastegate in the exhaust also.

7.Enjoy the boost :D

i don;t supose you know anything about the emision laws in ontario?......am i going to get nailed for not having one of my cats?

I dont think you'll get nailed for not having the first cat. As long as you have the 2nd cat, thats working, there shouldn't be any problem with emissions.

Who'd you get the kit from, and how much?

SO you're the one who took that! its all good though, i'm picking up NC_MP3's stage 2 for 1250! Good luck, take lots of pics of the install!

I think you will as soon as they do the visual inspection they should see the lack of cat. Whetther or not the tech records that or whether you slip him some $$ and he just lets you go is another question.

Yes I am the one who got the Turbo kit from....

Brand new....

Why you so stunned... he got a good deal!

:D

Lookin good Banned!

Stunned because he bought it before i could get my money organized. But it all worked out for the best i think

re: boost control

Boost is controlled by the pressure coming from the turbo via a hose from the outlet on your turbo to the waste gate actuator. when the pressure reaches the right psi the waste gate will open which limits the boost. you can fool the waste gate with a pneumatic valve between the turbo and the waste gate actuator which you can control the pressure that reaches the actuator. for example if your waste gate is supossed to open at 10psi you can use the valve to drain off about 5psi of pressure and the waste gate will think it got the 5psi that you didnt drain off, this means when the actuator recieves 10psi boost it is really getting 20psi before the waste gate opens. this is easier to explain than electronic boost control. also check yahoo search engine under boost control.

stunned me too....one day he was like..."how do we do this?"

Hey if i had the money, i would've had it in a heartbeat. But I didn't so congrats. Take LOTS of pics, I want to see a good install before i attempt mine.

it will be a while before i can afford to install it...got to pay off my credit cards first. i also need to buy some more parts too. Want to get a IC+piping, piller pod, some more gages, BOV and wastgate...so thats another 2 grand canadain.....plus another 1 grand for the install...sigh....

Why don't you install it yourself? I know its safer if you have someone install it, but the knowledge you'll get, and the experience you'll have installing it will be invaluable.

Good Idea!

i would...but i don't have the time or tools to do it...this is also my daily driver so i can't afford it not to be working for too long

My car is my daily driver too, but I'm going to take a friday off, and me and my friends are going to try and get it done in a weekend. The only complicated part is going to be driving to the muffler shop to get my DP welded to the exhaust, and the dumptube welded into the exhaust too. As long as you can get it installed you can fine tune it during the week I figure.
