hey all. im in the market for a new car. im looking at a 06 mazda speed 6. has 64k on it!!! lots of hwy... but i come from fast dsm and subarus... im looking to change it up a bit and get somethign a bit more grown up... any major problems with these cars? im looking for somethign i can take to the track once in a while and not worry about breaking...
what will it take and how much $$ would it be to have like a 250ish wheel hp or mid 13 sec car.... any info appreciated!!! thanks!!!(dance)

Not much, my friend just ran a 13.9 at 99mph with just a CAI.

sweet. well the one im looking at has 64k on it. anything in particular to look for? and any common problems with these? ive heard somthing about the turbo seals going...

Ive got only 9k miles on mine but so far no problems. Only real complaint ive seen about mazdaspeeds is the clutch. There is a post about having your clutch fixed in the speed 6 forums. Clutch is pretty tricky at first compared to most other cars. 64k miles seems like a lot though. Here in florida ive seen a few at the mazda dealer for sale. You should try and find one with less miles.

250 whp isnt too hard. Not sure if your going to have a warranty or want to keep it for that matter. A turboback exhaust / intake / intercooler / tune should put you around 250 or more.

Yeah thats not bad, but still 64K is still quit a bit, i would try to find one with 50K or less.

yea 64500 miles... its pretty cheap .. 16800 they are asking but i may spend a little more to get one with half the miles...

Watch for smoking... let the car idol for about ten min after you drive it; if no smoke great if it begins to smoke leave it in the parking lot unless it under warrenty! Also check for leaks, look around the transfer case kinda hard to spot but you need to check that out! Of course the clutch make sure it feels the same after each shift see if you can drive it for the day take it home really look it over! make sure the car responds the same to you!

well that one sold.. i wish it didnt just so i can even drive one... never drove one. wanted to see if i liked it... next closest one to me is 50 miles... now whats the deal with the clutch? and the smoking just the turbo right... these k04's are rebuildable tho arnt they?

Look in the mazdaspeed 6 forum index and there is a big clutch fix sticky post. Basically some 06 models have some clutches that are a bit harder to engage than they should be. Some dealers will fix them others wont. Its not a huge deal. The clutch just takes getting used to as the engagement point is quite a bit higher then in most cars. Because of this shifting can be more difficult but you will get used to it after a little while. Also purchasing a 70 dollar rear engine mount which you can install by urself easily in under 30 minutes really makes shifting easier. Makes the car a lot more fun to drive.

well thanks for your help guys! i found another ms6 for 16800 with 22k on it.. waiting to hear back from the dealer.. hope everything works out!!! i want one bad!!!

rapter for $30000 I will sell you mine with 15000 miles on the chassis and 1000 miles on a brand new motor and I will even drive to calgary to drop it off at your front door!!

I bought mine in January 08 for $17,700 with 11,000 miles. No way I'd pay $16,800 for one with 6 times the miles.
