Long enough to sleep in ?

Hi,

I was wondering what the length is from behind the drivers seat to the trunk. I'm considering the 5 and for road trips its sometimes handy to sleep in the car the occasional night.

Am wondering how much room there is and if its possible to maybe fit a single mattress in there?

I have not measured it and I have a baby car seat on one of the 2nd row seats, yet once I managed to take a quick nap by retracting the other 2nd row seat. Now, I'm bordering 6' so I had to sleep diagonally.

So, my bet is: yes, you can fit a mattress (not a twin size type but a thin futon type one or so) and "sleep" one person. Oh, one thing, road trip also means luggage so keep that on mind (boom02)

Also remember that the front seat reclines so that it can combine with the rear seat to make a mini sort of lumpy "bed". It does make for a very nice drive in move "recliner", and I did fall asleep in it, but I don't know if I would want to sleep that way for a few nights in a row.

i think theres a little over 5 feet of room from the back of the drivers seat to the tailgate. I only know that because the tub i hauled in the car was 5 ft long and it fit with no problems

I'm hoping to test drive it in a few weeks but im still waiting to find out when the 08s are out so I can get a 5sp Auto and aux in on the stereo.

This car is at the top of my list so hopefully i wont be disappointed in the drive.

If you're comparing it to minivans, you won't be disappointed in the drive, at all. Truth be told, it drives better than a lot of cars!
I wonder if a twin air matress would work? You could inflate it (slowly) in the van to just take up all of the available floor space.
