The car is running good, just not perfect yet. The issue seems to be an erratic boost signal to/from my map sensor. For some reason, when watching the text map, it "cell jumps" back and forth, when it should be climbing only, and the throttle is steadily pushed down. This is verified with a datalog of the boost signal. It jumps up and down, and is further verified by watching the digital gauges. The needle jumps up and down on the screen, while my Defi boost gauge shows a steady needle. I know that once this issue is fixed, my car will run perfect. It is so close!!

The guys that originally tuned my car mentioned they had problems of a similar nature with the MAP sensor being bolted to the manifold because of the vibration introduced by the AWR motor mounts. Once the sensor was removed from the manifold and secured elsewhere (but still taking a vacuum source straight off of the manifold) it worked perfectly.

How easy is the Haltech to tune? Is it a fairly user-friendly interface in the software or is it complicated as ****? Maybe I should just stick with the F10-X

So initially, is it a pain to setup as far as cold start parameters, etc? I've heard the Microtech is a nightmare with that kind of s***.
Pretty much all full standalones can be a SERIOUS pain to get the cold startup set right on. Once it's dialed in though, they'll start just fine. I have one guy starting down to about -10F without too much trouble. But then I have a couple other guys still struggling to get theirs to start. It's just about the tune, and it takes some effort and attention to tune. It's a matter of tweaking it bit by bit. The worst part though is when someone doesn't have the rest of the car tuned, or it isn't even tuned to start well in warm weather, then it gets really rough when it gets cold...

But the Haltech come from Hiboost already programmed for the Protege, correct? So in that respect, it's setup already. However I'll need to fine tune the map myself for what I need.

Well as it stands, I'm going with the Microtech... Hiboost's communication jsut plain sucks. I've sent a few emails and PM's already and no reply... Customer service goes a long way. People don't realize that sometimes...
They are both good systems, so you won't go wrong whether you go Haltech or Microtech, it's just a matter of who you deal with. Linux and other guys do a good job of supporting the Haltech guys. I support the Microtech guys along with the few dozen out there that have them etc... so it all depends... but the simple fact is that we have GREAT basemaps that match certain cars perfectly... but they are also PERFECT CRAP on other car with the same setup... a base map is a base map... it is NOT meant to run a car long term really although plenty in the industry have claimed it... but yeah... Linux has been through it, but he's also reaping the rewards of sticking with it
