LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

hows it running ahmad?

i wonder if my haltech has that hookup. its 2000 miles away so i cant check ATM

If your haltech came with a grey shielded cable with two wires hanging out of the end, that's your closed loop input. If you have it you probably just tucked it away. At least that's how mine looks.

Check pin 2 on the haltech harness at the E6X. If there is a wire in it, you have the WBO2 wire ready.

The settings are pretty self explanitory on the Haltech Closed Loop setup. I connected the 0-5V wire up to pin 2 on the Haltech. Juan had to send me this wire since it was not initially included in my setup. I set the Closed Loop to work at less than 25% throttle and it seems to be the magic number on that. I am currently at 8 engine cycles before correction and it is pretty stable as far as staying stoich at cruising speeds. I am taking out up to 19% fuel at times, I can just imagine how much gas I was wasting before. I will take a screenshot of the screen and my settings as soon as I figure out the idle closed loop deal.

Ahmad

like i said in the other thread, make sure there are no other correction factors enabled which interfere with closed loop o2 control. i spent many a late night on the phone to australia working that out. :)

if it is not, it is very easy to add the wire yourself with a trip to radio shack, $4 and a spool of wire. i did this and it worked fabulously.

Mine was only a shielded wire with one wire at the end. You ground the shielding at the E6X side only.

Well, my car sits disabled. We know that the E6X is not working correctly. I Ahmad put my E6X in his car, and loaded his map. It started doing the same thing it was in my car. Started heating up the coil on the driver's side (coil 1), and there was this high-pitched whine that stopped when that coil was unplugged. We put his E6X back in his car and all of that stopped. Looks like a driver or something is out.

Anyone talk to Juan lately? Can't get a hold of him.

Sorry to hear that Patrick! At least it is something that you can find some support and evidence for... did you guys try putting Ahmad's E6 in your car and see if it runs then or not? Hope you get a hold of Juan soon and are able to get back up and running.

Later!

Steve

Is there a dwell setting that can be adjusted? What about a setting for smart coils? It sounds like the driver may not like to run smart coils.

funny too reading that other forum that they even mentioned bad CAS signals too like I was concerned about when we talked... is the dwell time based or angle based for your Haltech or is it configurable?

Why did you remove the link? Was this the one?

It would be good info for anyone who has this problem, they would have less hard of a time getting a new one if they knew it has happened before.

It sucks man, hopefully Juan can hook you up with a new one so you don't have to go through the hassel of sending it back and s***. Would there be any way for users to see if they have a possible faulty unit? Maybe there were a bad batch and someone can look at their boards and see if they fall into that catergory? Good luck!

I didn't want to cause a panic. People are fickle when it comes to keeping the facts straight with fears. I wanted to do more research before I put that out here. Anyhoot, leave it there. It's ok. I talked to Juan about 5 minutes ago. He's going to check on a few things, and I'll talked to him in about 90 minutes.

We were considering this. But for the sake of how expensive the unit is and how broke we are, we decided it wasnt worth it to risk it and have two disabled cars for some fluke reason (maybe something else is the problem). Plus we were out of working coils other than the ones on my car... lol.

Yeah, I think I may be screwed. I have to send it back for reapir. This means being without my car. I can't do this...

Juan can't front you one for now???

Shoot man, thats crappy. I bet Juan can help you out. That'd be awesome.

Did they give you an idea on what is causing the units to fail? How do you know it will not happen again?

At this point I am not exactly sure what Juan can do for me on this. We talked on the phone last night, but was only able to make out some of what he was saying due to background noise. I am waiting to hear back from him on my PM.

Do you still have your MPI around to get it back up and running?

I don't have any extra Microtech's... too much overhead for us at our size... otherwise I'd hook you up ! Sorry :(.

I am screwed...money wise. It is going to cost me $$$ to borrow one until mine is fixed, and then the deposit goes back to me. I don't have that much now though...(shrug)
