Lines in the Liner (Ceiling Liner that is...)

Lines in the Liner (Headliner that is...)

I've noticed for a few months now, that there are a number of "lines" in the ceiling liner of my Mz 5. These are mostly in the tailgate/3rd row - although a couple extend into the 2nd row a bit. I don't think they have any dirt or coloring in them - it's just the ceiling material pushed the wrong way. I'm sure this is from larger items I've stuffed into the car on various occasions, that scraped into the ceiling a bit. I've tried using a bit of automotive interior shampoo to dampen the roughed surface, and have tried to "smooth" it back in the direction of the rest of the fabric. I've had limited success. Anyone have a tip on how best to smooth these out? (scratch)

Thanks in Advance!

Picture of What I'm Talking About

Still haven't solved the headliner lines repair mystery - but here's a so-so picture taken with my phone's camera to show you what I mean.

See the scrapes in the fabric? I think it's from bicycle handle bars - but regardless of what caused it - I makes my otherwise pristine Mz5 look crappy up there.

Any thoughts at all?

Thanks in Advance.

No not at all - handlebars from my or my kids' bikes scraping the ceiling when loading them into the car.

It's not a stain, its a scratch into the fabric.

Problem is - no one on the Forum and nothing I can really find on it on the web in general on how to attempt to fix it. I can't believe I'm the first one on the planet with this issue - even if it's not common.

from what I know about headliners...(dunno)

I'm guessing the fabric is glued to a foamy insulation/backing material. I'd guess you damaged the support behind the fabric. It would involve taking down the entire headliner - Yahoo!

To me the fabric just seems like it's been rubbed in the wrong direction - but it's hard to press the fibers back down in the direction they originally were.

(It's much easier on a cat or dog when their fur is rubbed in the wrong direction - it doesn't take much to rub it back into the right direction.) (hi)
